Focal Sopra N°1 Bookshelf Loudspeaker (each) Open Box

The Focal Sopra N°1 brings much of the technology, craftsmanship, and musical performance of Focal's larger reference loudspeakers into a compact stand-mount design. Stands are sold separate.

Handcrafted in France, Sopra N°1 is a true three-way loudspeaker featuring Focal's pure Beryllium tweeter, "W" cone midrange and woofer, and technologies developed to reduce distortion and improve driver control.

For listeners who want a serious reference-level two-channel system without a large floorstanding speaker dominating the room, the Sopra N°1 is one of the most compelling speakers in the Focal lineup.

Three-Way Sopra Performance

Unlike many compact loudspeakers that rely on a single driver to handle both bass and midrange, Sopra N°1 uses a dedicated 6.5-inch "W" cone woofer and separate 6.5-inch "W" cone midrange driver.

This three-way architecture allows each driver to concentrate on a narrower portion of the frequency range.

The result is greater clarity through the midrange, impressive dynamics, and bass extension reaching down to 41Hz, all from a remarkably compact enclosure.

Pure Beryllium Tweeter

Sopra N°1 features Focal's 1-inch pure Beryllium inverted-dome tweeter.

Beryllium combines extremely low mass with exceptional rigidity, allowing the tweeter to respond rapidly while extending far beyond the audible frequency range.

The tweeter operates in conjunction with Focal's IHL — Infinite Horn Loading — system, which manages the rear wave of the tweeter to reduce distortion and improve definition.

High-frequency response extends to 40kHz.

"W" Cone Drivers

Both the midrange and woofer use Focal's famous "W" composite sandwich cone technology.

The construction is engineered to combine low mass, rigidity, and internal damping—three properties that are difficult to achieve simultaneously in a loudspeaker diaphragm.

The goal isn't technology for technology's sake.

It's speed, control, natural voices and instruments, and the ability to hear deeply into a recording without the speaker becoming aggressive or clinical.

Tuned Mass Damper & NIC

Focal's Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) technology helps control unwanted resonance in the midrange driver's suspension, reducing distortion in the frequencies where our hearing is particularly sensitive.

The Neutral Inductance Circuit (NIC) stabilizes the magnetic field surrounding the driver as the voice coil moves.

Together, these technologies help the Sopra N°1 reproduce the midrange with greater clarity, neutrality, and control.
