The Focal Alpha 50 Evo is a compact, two-way active studio monitor designed for recording, mixing, music production and critical listening. Combining a French-made 5-inch Slatefiber woofer with a 1-inch aluminum inverted-dome tweeter, it delivers accurate sound reproduction, detailed midrange and controlled bass in a space-efficient enclosure.

With a frequency response of 45Hz to 22kHz, 60 watts of bi-amplification and a maximum peak output of 101dB SPL, the Alpha 50 Evo provides the performance required for nearfield monitoring without occupying excessive desk space. Balanced XLR and TRS inputs, an unbalanced RCA connection and adjustable acoustic controls make it a versatile choice for home recording studios and professional production environments.

French-Made Slatefiber Woofer

The Alpha 50 Evo features Focal's proprietary 5-inch Slatefiber woofer, developed and manufactured in France.

Its diaphragm combines recycled carbon fibers with a thermoplastic polymer. The non-woven carbon fibers are oriented in the same direction to achieve a carefully controlled balance of rigidity, damping and low moving mass.

This construction helps reproduce vocals, instruments and low-frequency information with the tonal neutrality required for critical listening. The compact woofer also allows the Alpha 50 Evo to maintain a relatively small footprint, making it particularly suitable for desktop studios and nearfield monitoring positions.

Aluminum Inverted-Dome Tweeter

A 1-inch aluminum inverted-dome tweeter handles high-frequency reproduction, revealing the fine details of percussion, vocal recordings, acoustic instruments and spatial effects.

Focal's inverted-dome design is engineered for wide horizontal dispersion. An integrated waveguide helps maintain a stable stereo image across the listening position, allowing engineers and producers to move naturally around their workstation without experiencing dramatic changes in high-frequency balance.

Together, the Slatefiber woofer and aluminum tweeter deliver a consistent tonal character at both low and elevated listening levels.

60 Watts of Dedicated Class D Amplification

The Alpha 50 Evo incorporates separate Class D amplifiers for its low-frequency and high-frequency drivers.

A 35-watt amplifier drives the Slatefiber woofer, while a dedicated 25-watt amplifier powers the aluminum tweeter. This bi-amplified configuration provides each driver with amplification suited to its operating range, eliminating the need for an external power amplifier.

With a maximum peak output of 101dB SPL at one meter, the Alpha 50 Evo offers useful dynamic headroom for recording, editing and mixing in smaller studio environments.

XLR, TRS and RCA Connectivity

Three analog inputs make the Alpha 50 Evo easy to integrate into a wide range of studio and desktop audio systems.

Balanced XLR and ¼-inch TRS inputs accommodate compatible audio interfaces, mixing consoles and monitor controllers. An unbalanced RCA input provides additional connectivity for desktop DACs and other playback equipment.

Selectable 0dB and +6dB input sensitivity settings allow the monitor to be matched to different source output levels, making it suitable for both professional recording equipment and compact home studio setups.

Acoustic Controls for Accurate Monitoring

The Alpha 50 Evo includes adjustable bass and treble controls that help compensate for the acoustic characteristics of the listening environment.

A low-frequency shelving control provides ±6dB of adjustment, allowing users to manage bass reinforcement caused by nearby walls, desks and other room boundaries. A separate high-frequency shelving control offers ±3dB of adjustment for fine-tuning treble balance.

These controls are particularly valuable in home studios, where monitor placement and acoustic treatment may be limited by available space.

Front-Ported Design and Flexible Installation

The Alpha 50 Evo features a bass-reflex enclosure with a large front-facing laminar port, rounded cabinet contours and substantial side panels.

Its compact dimensions make it well suited to desktop installations, dedicated nearfield monitor stands and smaller control rooms. Integrated mounting inserts also accommodate compatible wall and ceiling mounting accessories.

An automatic standby function reduces power consumption after approximately 15 minutes without an audio signal. This feature can be disabled when continuous operation is preferred.
