Focal 300 ICW6 In-Wall / In-Ceiling Speaker

The Focal 300 ICW6 is a high-performance architectural loudspeaker designed for installations where you want serious sound without putting traditional speakers into the room.

Designed for both in-wall and in-ceiling installation, the 300 ICW6 combines a 6.5-inch Flax mid/bass driver with Focal's aluminum/magnesium inverted-dome tweeter.

It's an extremely versatile speaker. We can use it for high-quality whole-home music, architectural stereo systems, surround channels, Dolby Atmos height channels, or as part of a completely hidden home theater.

6.5-Inch Focal Flax Driver

The move to a 6.5-inch Flax mid/bass driver gives the 300 ICW6 greater output and low-frequency capability than the smaller ICW4.

Focal's patented Flax cone uses high-quality French flax fiber sandwiched between two thin layers of fiberglass.

The construction gives the driver the combination Focal is looking for: low weight for dynamics, rigidity for control, and natural damping to minimize unwanted coloration.

The result is clean, natural reproduction of both music and movie soundtracks, with particularly good clarity through vocals and dialogue.

Adjustable Aluminum/Magnesium Tweeter

High frequencies are handled by Focal's aluminum/magnesium inverted-dome tweeter.

The combination of aluminum and magnesium provides a balance of rigidity and damping, while Focal's inverted-dome design helps provide broad dispersion throughout the room.

The tweeter can also be adjusted after installation.

That's important with architectural audio because the speaker location isn't always determined strictly by acoustics. Ceiling joists, lighting, HVAC registers, furniture placement, and the design of the room can all influence where a speaker can be installed.

The adjustable tweeter gives us another tool to direct the high-frequency energy toward the listening area.

Excellent for Dolby Atmos

The 300 ICW6 is a strong choice for Dolby Atmos height channels in a high-performance home theater.

Its 6.5-inch driver gives it enough output and dynamic capability to keep up with substantially larger traditional speakers at ear level.

That makes it particularly useful when we're building a theater around Focal's traditional loudspeaker ranges and want architectural speakers overhead without giving up the character and performance of the rest of the system.

The ICW6 can also be installed in the walls as a discreet surround-channel solution.

Architectural Stereo Systems

The 300 ICW6 isn't limited to background music.

Focal specifically designed it to work in stereo configurations, making it possible to create a legitimate two-channel system with virtually no visible speakers.

For living rooms, kitchens, offices, bedrooms, game rooms, and other spaces where traditional speakers aren't practical, a properly positioned pair of ICW6s can provide a much higher level of performance than conventional ceiling speakers.

Add a properly integrated subwoofer and the system can become even more impressive while remaining visually discreet.

Whole-Home Focal Audio

The 300 ICW6 is also an excellent foundation for a premium whole-home audio system.

Instead of treating distributed audio as background noise, we can design each room around the way it's actually going to be used.

Some areas may only need a pair of architectural speakers. Larger rooms may need four or more. Entertainment spaces may benefit from dedicated subwoofers.

EQI Easy Quick Install

Focal's EQI — Easy Quick Install — system makes the 300 Series particularly well suited for professional custom installation.

The mounting mechanism allows the speaker to be secured by hand without conventional screws or tools.

Both round and square magnetic grilles are included, giving us flexibility depending on the architecture of the room.

The grilles are also ready to paint so they can virtually disappear into the surrounding wall or ceiling.

Focal + Naim Custom Integration

This is another area where being a Focal Powered by Naim store makes a real difference.

Focal specifically recommends the Naim CI-Uniti 102 streaming amplifier and CI-NAP 108 multi-channel amplifier with the 300 ICW6.

That gives us the ability to design the architectural speakers, streaming platform, amplification, networking, and control system together instead of treating them as unrelated pieces.
