The Focal 1000 ICA6 is a reference-level in-ceiling loudspeaker designed for installations where the speaker needs to disappear but the sound needs to be directed exactly where we want it.

What separates the ICA6 from a conventional ceiling speaker is its 35-degree angled driver design.

Instead of firing straight down into the room, the 1000 ICA6 directs its acoustic energy toward the listening position. That makes it an outstanding solution for Dolby Atmos, high-end home theater, architectural stereo systems, and rooms where traditional speakers aren't an option.

And because it's part of Focal's 1000 Series, it combines a 6.5-inch W-cone mid/bass driver with Focal's pure Beryllium inverted-dome tweeter.

35-Degree Angled Design

The defining feature of the 1000 ICA6 is its 35-degree fixed angle.

That's a major advantage in a ceiling installation.

Traditional ceiling speakers fire primarily downward. Depending on the location of the speaker and seating position, that may not be where we actually want the sound to go.

The ICA6 allows us to position the speaker in the ceiling while directing its output toward the listening area.

For home theater, that gives us considerably more flexibility when laying out the room and determining the correct speaker locations.

Made for Dolby Atmos

The 1000 ICA6 is particularly well suited for a serious Dolby Atmos system.

Atmos relies on properly positioned overhead channels to create convincing height information above the listener.

The ICA6's angled architecture allows us to aim those channels toward the seating area rather than simply firing straight down.

That can help create a more precise and cohesive immersive sound field—especially in larger theaters or rooms with higher ceilings.

And because we're using Focal's W-cone and Beryllium technology overhead, the Atmos channels aren't an afterthought.

6.5-Inch Focal W-Cone Driver

The 1000 ICA6 uses a 6.5-inch W-cone mid/bass driver.

Focal's W cone uses a sandwich construction consisting of two layers of glass surrounding a structural foam core.

This allows Focal to control three important characteristics of the driver:

• Lightness
• Rigidity
• Damping

The result is excellent transient response, low distortion, and highly controlled reproduction of both music and movie soundtracks.

It's the same fundamental W-cone technology found throughout Focal's higher-end loudspeaker designs.

Pure Beryllium Tweeter

High frequencies are handled by Focal's pure Beryllium inverted-dome tweeter.

Beryllium combines extremely low mass with exceptional rigidity, making it an ideal material for a high-frequency driver.

The tweeter extends the 1000 ICA6's frequency response all the way to 44kHz and provides the speed, resolution, and fine detail we expect from Focal's higher-end loudspeakers.

The tweeter level can also be adjusted to better suit the installation and listening position.

A Completely Hidden Front Soundstage

The angled design also gives us some interesting options beyond Atmos.

In the right room, the 1000 ICA6 can be used to create a front soundstage entirely from the ceiling.

That can be extremely useful in rooms dominated by glass, architectural finishes, cabinetry, artwork, or other design elements that make conventional front speakers difficult or undesirable.

By positioning the ICA6s correctly and aiming them toward the listening area, we can create a high-performance system while keeping the walls almost completely free of visible speakers.

Architectural Stereo

The same concept works for music.

A properly positioned pair of 1000 ICA6s can create a discreet architectural stereo system where the sound is directed toward the listening area rather than simply filling the room from above.

Add quality amplification and a properly integrated subwoofer and we can build a serious music system without putting a pair of traditional speakers into the room.

Easy Quick Install

Focal's EQI — Easy Quick Install — system is designed to simplify professional installation.

The mounting system allows the speaker to be installed by hand without conventional tools.

Both round and square magnetic grilles are included and can be painted to match the surrounding ceiling.

Focal also includes black and white felt options to further customize the appearance behind the grille.

Once everything is installed and painted, the speaker virtually disappears.

Easy Upgrade from Focal 300 Series

Focal intentionally designed the 1000 Series architectural products with dimensions compatible with their 300 Series counterparts.

That creates a useful upgrade path for existing Focal architectural systems.

In the appropriate installation, we can move from the 300 Series into the higher-performance W-cone and Beryllium technology of the 1000 Series without completely redesigning the ceiling.
