The ESOTERIC K-01XD SE combines the brand’s renowned VRDS-ATLAS SACD transport with the in-house Master Sound Discrete DAC, bringing flagship-level digital engineering into one reference-grade player. The SE version further refines the platform with an upgraded discrete clock, improved analog circuitry, and premium component selection for greater presence, dynamics, and musical texture.

VRDS-ATLAS Disc Transport

The K-01XD SE uses ESOTERIC’s VRDS-ATLAS ATLAS 01 transport mechanism, developed to reduce rotational vibration, correct disc warpage, and improve optical pickup accuracy.

Its transport incorporates a 20 mm SS400 steel bridge, a duralumin platter, and a single-point spindle bearing system for high rigidity, low mechanical noise, and extremely stable disc rotation.

Master Sound Discrete DAC

At the core of the K-01XD SE is ESOTERIC’s proprietary Master Sound Discrete DAC architecture.

The DAC uses 32 discrete elements per channel, with individual clock drivers, logic circuits, capacitors, resistors, and associated components kept independent for high processing precision and signal purity.

Its proprietary FPGA-based Delta-Sigma processing supports:

• 64-bit / 512Fs processing
• Up to 22.5 MHz DSD
• Up to 768 kHz PCM

Upgraded SE Analog Circuitry

The SE version features revised analog circuitry using ESOTERIC’s IDM-01 Integrated Discrete-Amplifier Module along with carefully selected premium resistors, capacitors, and other components.

The shortened signal path and optimized analog stage are designed to improve dynamics, clarity, immediacy, and natural tonal texture.

Master Sound Discrete Clock

The K-01XD SE incorporates ESOTERIC’s Master Sound Discrete Clock for Digital Player, based on concepts developed for the Grandioso G1X master clock generator.

It can also synchronize to a compatible external ESOTERIC clock using a 10 MHz reference signal for even greater timing precision.

High-Current Analog Output Stage

The K-01XD SE uses ESOTERIC’s HCLD High Current Line Driver, offering an exceptionally fast 2,000 V/μs slew rate.

Along with conventional XLR and RCA outputs, it supports ES-Link Analog, ESOTERIC’s proprietary current-transmission system designed to reduce the effects of cable impedance and preserve musical energy between source and amplifier.

Four Independent Power Transformers

The K-01XD SE employs four large toroidal transformers, with dedicated power supplies for the left and right DAC channels, transport mechanism, and digital circuitry.

Its low-feedback discrete regulator architecture is supported by 71 EDLC super capacitors with a combined capacitance of 1.85 F, providing substantial energy reserves for improved dynamics and low-frequency resolution.

Standalone DAC Capability

The K-01XD SE is more than an SACD/CD player. Its coaxial, optical, and USB Type-B digital inputs allow it to function as a reference standalone DAC.

Digital processing options include:

Reference Chassis Construction
