A New Reference in Analog Playback

The ESOTERIC Grandioso T1 is the brand’s first-ever turntable and one of its most ambitious analog components. Created to commemorate ESOTERIC’s 35th anniversary, the T1 introduces the patented Esoteric MagneDrive System, a contact-free magnetic drive architecture designed to deliver extraordinarily quiet, precise, and stable platter rotation.

Esoteric MagneDrive System

Unlike conventional belt, rim, or direct-drive designs, the MagneDrive System transfers rotational force from the motor to the platter without physical contact.

A magnetic driver mounted to the motor interacts with an induction wheel beneath the platter, allowing the two components to rotate synchronously through magnetic force. By eliminating direct mechanical coupling between the motor and platter, motor vibration is greatly reduced before it can reach the record surface.

19 kg Magne-Float Platter

The T1 uses a massive 19 kg aluminum platter, but ESOTERIC’s Magne-Float system reduces the effective load on the bearing to approximately 4 kg.

This design combines high rotational inertia with dramatically reduced bearing friction for exceptionally smooth, quiet rotation. An inverted bearing brings the rotational fulcrum closer to the record surface for improved stability.

Exceptional Speed Accuracy

Because the platter and magnetic driver remain synchronized at a fixed rotational ratio, the T1 avoids variables normally associated with belts, pulleys, and idlers.

A high-precision processor directly controls the motor’s current waveform rather than relying on conventional corrective servo feedback, helping maintain extremely stable platter speed and natural musical timing.

Adjustable Drive Torque

One of the Grandioso T1’s most distinctive features is its ability to fine-tune the sonic presentation mechanically.

A precision micrometer control adjusts the distance between the magnetic driver and platter, changing magnetic transmission torque. This allows the listener to tailor the presentation from more powerful and authoritative to softer and more relaxed while music is playing.

Three-Piece Reference Architecture

The Grandioso T1 separates its major mechanical and electrical functions into three independent units:

• Main turntable chassis
• Motor drive unit
• Dedicated motor power supply

The motor itself is mounted on a heavyweight 6 mm brass bottom chassis, while its separate power supply provides clean DC power and further isolates unwanted vibration.

10 MHz Master Clock Synchronization

The motor unit includes a 10 MHz external clock input, allowing synchronization with a compatible master clock such as the Grandioso G1X.

This gives the T1 a uniquely ESOTERIC approach to analog playback, applying the company’s expertise in digital timing precision to platter-speed control.

Triple-Layer Aluminum & Wood Chassis

The T1’s chassis combines thick aluminum layers with an internal wood layer engineered to control vibration.

The tonearm is mounted to the upper structure, while the platter spindle and isolation system are positioned on the lower structure. The intermediate wooden chassis helps reduce vibration transfer between the arm and platter while contributing to tonal balance and mechanical damping.

A high-gloss piano-lacquer finish on the wood layer creates a striking visual contrast with the precision-machined aluminum chassis.

Advanced Hybrid Isolation Feet

ESOTERIC’s isolation feet combine coil springs with specialized damping resin to control both low-frequency vibration and lingering resonance.

The system is designed to settle vibration in approximately 0.5 seconds, providing effective isolation without the prolonged oscillation often associated with traditional suspended turntable designs.

TA-9D Tonearm or Armless Configuration

The Grandioso T1 is available with ESOTERIC’s TA-9D dynamic-balance tonearm or in an armless configuration.

The TA-9D is based on the heritage of IKEDA Sound Labs and Fidelity Research designs and incorporates:

• Dynamic-balance operation
• Stainless-steel arm tube with brass and aluminum construction
• High-purity 6N + 4N copper internal wiring
• Adjustable VTA during playback

For custom analog systems, optional arm bases allow the Grandioso T1 to accommodate up to three tonearms, depending on arm configuration and mounting position.
