The ESOTERIC Grandioso K1X SE brings two of ESOTERIC’s most advanced technologies together in a single reference component: the VRDS-ATLAS Super Audio CD transport mechanism and the Master Sound Discrete DAC.

The SE evolution further refines the original K1X with an upgraded analog DAC stage, ESOTERIC’s IDM-01 Integrated Discrete-Amplifier Module, and the Master Sound Discrete Clock for Digital Player. The result is a flagship digital source engineered for exceptional resolution, dynamics, dimensionality, and natural musical texture.

VRDS-ATLAS Transport Mechanism

At the heart of the K1X SE is ESOTERIC’s flagship VRDS-ATLAS (Vibration-Free Rigid Disc-Clamping System).

VRDS clamps the disc to a same-diameter turntable to suppress rotational vibration and correct disc warpage, improving optical pickup accuracy while reducing servo activity. The ATLAS mechanism uses an exceptionally rigid construction weighing 6.6 kg for the mechanism alone and 13.5 kg including its base, with SS400 steel structural components and a precision-machined duralumin turntable.

Master Sound Discrete DAC

Rather than relying on a conventional integrated DAC chip, ESOTERIC developed its own Master Sound Discrete DAC architecture.

Derived from the flagship Grandioso D1X SE, the K1X SE uses 32 discrete elements per channel, with key components independently implemented to preserve musical energy and signal purity. Its proprietary FPGA-based Delta-Sigma processing supports 64-bit/512Fs processing, up to 22.5 MHz DSD and 768 kHz PCM.

SE-Generation Analog Circuitry

For the K1X SE, ESOTERIC further refined the DAC board's analog circuitry with carefully selected components and the proprietary IDM-01 Integrated Discrete-Amplifier Module.

The extremely short signal path and optimized component selection are designed to provide greater dynamics, vivid musical presence, and a more organic tonal character.

Master Sound Discrete Clock

The K1X SE incorporates ESOTERIC’s Master Sound Discrete Clock for Digital Player, applying concepts developed for the flagship Grandioso G1X master clock generator.

The discrete clock architecture uses carefully selected components and a large crystal oscillator rather than a conventional off-the-shelf clock module. The K1X SE can also synchronize to an external 10 MHz master clock, including the Grandioso G1X.

Powerful Four-Transformer Power Supply

The K1X SE employs four independent toroidal power transformers, with dedicated transformers for the left and right D/A converter channels.

Its power architecture also includes low-feedback discrete DC regulators and an impressive 76 EDLC supercapacitors, providing a combined capacitance of 2.05 F (2,050,000 μF).

ES-Link Analog & High-Speed Output Stage

ESOTERIC’s HCLD (High Current Line Driver) output buffer achieves a high-speed slew rate of 2,000 V/μs, designed for exceptional current delivery and transient response.

Along with conventional XLR and RCA outputs, the K1X SE supports ES-Link Analog, ESOTERIC’s proprietary current-transmission system for compatible components.

More Than an SACD Player

The Grandioso K1X SE can also operate as a standalone reference DAC for external digital sources.

In addition to coaxial and optical digital inputs, its USB Type-B input supports asynchronous playback up to 22.5 MHz DSD and 768 kHz/32-bit PCM. PCM upsampling up to 16× and PCM-to-DSD conversion are also supported.

Reference-Grade Construction

The massive VRDS-ATLAS mechanism is mounted to a 5 mm-thick steel base chassis, while a double-layer internal architecture separates audio circuitry from transformers and power circuitry.

A semi-floating top panel and redesigned ESOTERIC Pinpoint feet further address mechanical resonance and chassis stress.
