The Esoteric G-05 Master Clock Generator brings flagship-derived clock technology to the heart of Esoteric’s 05 Series. Built around Esoteric’s entirely in-house developed Master Sound Discrete Clock, the G-05 supplies an exceptionally stable and precise 10MHz reference signal designed to unlock greater musical expression from compatible digital sources.

Compatible with Esoteric K-Series and N-Series components as well as other digital audio products equipped with a 10MHz external clock input, the G-05 is an ideal upgrade for high-performance digital systems where timing accuracy, clarity, dimensionality, and natural musical reproduction are paramount.

Master Sound Discrete Clock

At the core of the G-05 is Esoteric’s proprietary Master Sound Discrete Clock, developed specifically for high-end music reproduction. Rather than relying on a conventional general-purpose clock module, Esoteric developed the crystal oscillator, temperature-control circuitry, control software, and supporting discrete circuitry in-house.

This meticulous approach allows the G-05 to provide an exceptionally pure and stable clock reference while maintaining the natural, expressive character Esoteric seeks in its reference digital components.

Esoteric SXT-03 Custom Crystal Oscillator

The G-05 employs the SXT-03, a large custom crystal oscillator selected specifically for its electro-physical characteristics.

The crystal material is slowly grown and SC-cut (Stress Compensated Cut) for excellent temperature characteristics. Each crystal is carefully selected to meet Esoteric's strict standards for center-frequency stability, helping provide low phase noise, stable oscillation, and highly accurate timing.

Master Sound TC Temperature Control

Clock accuracy is highly dependent on temperature stability. Esoteric's proprietary Master Sound TC (Thermo-Control) system combines dedicated hardware with individually optimized control software to maintain the crystal at its ideal operating temperature.

Each SXT-03 crystal is measured during production, and its temperature characteristics are used to individually calibrate the control program. A sophisticated 128-step heater control system continuously regulates temperature while minimizing current fluctuations that could interfere with the oscillator circuit.

Three Independent Power Supplies

Instead of powering the entire clock system from a single supply, the G-05 employs three independent power supply sections dedicated to the:

• Oscillator circuit
• Heater and control circuitry
• Output buffer amplifier

This separation helps minimize interference between circuit blocks while supplying each section with the power characteristics required for optimum performance.

Esoteric-HCLD Output Buffer

The G-05 incorporates Esoteric's acclaimed HCLD high-current output buffer technology, derived from the Grandioso C1X preamplifier.

With powerful current-transfer capability and a wide 180MHz frequency response, the HCLD circuit is engineered to deliver a clean and precise 10MHz sine-wave reference signal to connected digital components.

Four 10MHz Clock Outputs

Four dedicated 10MHz sine-wave clock outputs allow the G-05 to synchronize up to four compatible digital components simultaneously.

This makes it particularly well suited to sophisticated Esoteric systems incorporating separate digital sources, DACs, network players, and other clock-compatible components.

Precision Construction

Because clock circuitry is extremely sensitive to vibration, Esoteric gives the G-05 the same meticulous mechanical engineering expected from its high-end electronics.

Heavy aluminum front and side panels provide rigidity, while the clock module is mechanically grounded by its own weight rather than being rigidly screwed into the chassis. Three-point steel isolation feet and a semi-floating top panel further help control mechanical stress and vibration.
