The Esoteric G-01XD is a reference-grade 10MHz Master Clock Generator designed to unlock greater performance from compatible digital audio components. Featuring Esoteric’s proprietary Master Sound Discrete Clock, the G-01XD combines an in-house-developed OCXO architecture, custom SC1 crystal, advanced temperature control, independent power supplies, and high-current output circuitry to deliver an exceptionally stable and pure clock signal.

Designed as the ideal companion for Esoteric digital sources such as the K-01 and N-01 series—and compatible with other components accepting a 10MHz external clock—the G-01XD is engineered to improve timing precision while enhancing clarity, spatial definition, natural texture, and musical realism.

Master Sound Discrete Clock

At the heart of the G-01XD is Esoteric’s proprietary Master Sound Discrete Clock, an OCXO (Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator) developed specifically for high-end music reproduction.

Rather than relying on a conventional packaged clock module, Esoteric developed the oscillator circuitry, temperature-control hardware, and control software in-house. This highly specialized approach allows every element of the clock architecture to be optimized for both precision and musical performance.

Esoteric SC1 Custom Crystal

The G-01XD employs Esoteric’s exclusive SC1 crystal, developed specifically for the Master Sound Discrete Clock.

Based on high-reliability quartz technology originally developed for aerospace applications, the SC1 uses an SC (Stress Compensated) cut and is carefully selected according to Esoteric's strict frequency-stability requirements.

Each crystal is individually measured and calibrated during production to achieve exceptional stability, extremely low phase noise, and natural musical reproduction.

Master Sound TC Temperature Control

Precise temperature management is essential to maintaining oscillator stability. Esoteric’s proprietary Master Sound TC (Thermo-Control) system individually optimizes the operating temperature of each SC1 crystal.

The characteristics of every crystal are measured during manufacturing, and the control program is individually calibrated to maintain its optimum operating temperature.

A sophisticated 128-step heater control system continuously regulates temperature while minimizing current fluctuations that could interfere with the oscillator circuitry.

Four Independent Power Supplies

To minimize interaction between critical circuit sections, the G-01XD employs four independent power rectification circuits dedicated to:

• Oscillator circuitry
• Output buffer amplifier
• Heater circuitry
• Control circuitry

A large toroidal transformer supplies the oscillator and buffer stages, while a separate EI-core transformer powers the heater and control circuits. This architecture helps maintain the purity and instantaneous delivery of the clock signal.

Esoteric-HCLD Output Buffer

The G-01XD incorporates Esoteric’s acclaimed HCLD high-current line-driver technology, derived from the Grandioso C1X preamplifier.

With powerful current-delivery capability and a wide 180MHz frequency response, the output stage is designed to transmit an exceptionally pure and stable 10MHz sine-wave clock signal to connected digital components.

Four 10MHz Clock Outputs

Four dedicated 10MHz sine-wave BNC clock outputs allow the G-01XD to synchronize multiple compatible digital components simultaneously.

Each output can be independently switched between:

Normal Mode – conventional clock output operation.

Adaptive Zero Ground Mode – actively drives the output ground reference toward 0V, providing an alternative grounding architecture that allows listeners to select their preferred sonic presentation.

Premium Signal Transmission

Critical internal clock wiring uses custom-designed coaxial cables with MIL-standard gold-plated SMA connectors.

The external BNC outputs are also gold-plated and precisely impedance-matched to 50Ω, helping maintain signal integrity and minimize transmission loss.

Vibration-Controlled Chassis

Because high-precision clock circuitry can be sensitive to mechanical vibration, Esoteric designed the G-01XD chassis with extensive resonance-control measures.

Heavy aluminum front and side panels provide structural rigidity, while the Master Sound Discrete Clock module is mechanically grounded through its own weight rather than conventional rigid mounting.

Esoteric’s proprietary Pinpoint Foot System and semi-floating top panel further reduce mechanical stress and unwanted vibration.
