The DALI EPIKORE 9 is a four-way high-end floorstanding loudspeaker that brings technologies developed for the flagship DALI KORE into a design created for large listening rooms. Featuring dual 8-inch woofers, a dedicated 6.5-inch Clarity Cone midrange driver, and DALI's EVO-K Hybrid Tweeter, the EPIKORE 9 combines substantial low-frequency authority with the detail, imaging, and dynamic range required of a reference two-channel stereo system.

Developed, designed, and manufactured in Denmark, the EPIKORE 9 incorporates second-generation Soft Magnetic Compound (SMC Gen-2) technology, advanced driver materials, and a carefully engineered four-way crossover. Its combination of low-distortion motor systems, wide-dispersion high-frequency drivers, and continuous-flare bass-reflex ports is designed to reproduce demanding recordings with accuracy and control.

With a frequency response of 29Hz–34kHz and a maximum sound pressure level of 112dB, the EPIKORE 9 offers full-range performance without the larger cabinet and four-woofer configuration of the EPIKORE 11.

Dual 8-Inch Woofers with SMC Gen-2 Technology

The EPIKORE 9 shares its 8-inch bass-driver technology with the EPIKORE 11. Its two woofers incorporate DALI's second-generation Soft Magnetic Compound motor technology, developed to reduce magnetic distortion and improve the linearity of the drivers.

Unlike conventional iron-based magnetic materials, SMC has extremely low electrical conductivity. This helps reduce eddy currents and magnetic hysteresis within the motor system, minimizing unwanted distortion as the voice coils move through the magnetic field.

The large woofers provide the cone area and displacement required to reproduce deep bass instruments, orchestral dynamics, and demanding low-frequency passages. Their dedicated role within the four-way architecture allows the midrange and high-frequency drivers to operate without having to reproduce the same substantial bass energy.

Dedicated 6.5-Inch Clarity Cone Midrange

The EPIKORE 9 uses a dedicated 6.5-inch midrange driver with DALI's Clarity Cone technology. Developed using the company's signature paper and wood-fibre diaphragm materials, the cone incorporates a geometric surface structure designed to control unwanted resonances and reduce diaphragm breakup.

The midrange also benefits from SMC Gen-2 motor technology, helping minimize distortion in the frequency range most important to vocals, strings, piano, and other acoustic instruments.

By separating midrange reproduction from the dual 8-inch woofers, DALI gives the EPIKORE 9 the ability to reproduce complex musical passages while maintaining vocal intelligibility and instrumental separation.

EVO-K Hybrid Tweeter

Originally developed for the flagship DALI KORE, the EVO-K Hybrid Tweeter combines a large 35mm soft dome with a 10 × 55mm planar magnetostatic tweeter.

The oversized soft dome handles the lower portion of the high-frequency range, while the planar element extends the speaker's upper-frequency reproduction. Both incorporate powerful neodymium magnet systems.

The hybrid arrangement is engineered to provide wide horizontal dispersion and smooth high-frequency response, helping the EPIKORE 9 maintain consistent tonal balance across the listening area.

DALI's wide-dispersion approach also allows the loudspeaker to deliver a stable stereo image without requiring extreme toe-in, providing greater flexibility when positioning the speakers in a dedicated listening room.

Four-Way Crossover and Driver Integration

The EPIKORE 9 employs a four-way crossover network with crossover frequencies of 400Hz, 3.1kHz, and 12.5kHz.

This configuration assigns the bass, midrange, and high-frequency ranges to their respective drivers, with the planar tweeter handling the highest frequencies above its crossover point.

The crossover is engineered to integrate the EPIKORE 9's five drivers while maintaining the controlled dispersion and tonal consistency established through DALI's acoustic development process.

The result is a loudspeaker designed to preserve detail at moderate listening levels while retaining the dynamic headroom needed for more demanding recordings.

Continuous-Flare Bass-Reflex Ports

The EPIKORE 9 incorporates continuous-flare bass-reflex ports engineered to improve airflow and reduce turbulence as air moves through the enclosure.

This port geometry helps minimize unwanted noise and compression during demanding low-frequency passages, allowing the dual 8-inch woofers to deliver extended bass with greater control.

Combined with the speaker's substantial cabinet volume and dedicated bass drivers, the port design supports the EPIKORE 9's 29Hz low-frequency response.

Danish Cabinet Construction and Premium Finishes

The EPIKORE 9's curved enclosure combines rigid cabinet construction with carefully selected materials and traditional Danish craftsmanship. Its substantial structure is designed to provide a stable foundation for the drivers while minimizing unwanted cabinet resonance.

Real wood veneers and multi-layer piano-lacquer finishes give the EPIKORE 9 its distinctive appearance. The sculpted cabinet is available in three high-gloss finishes: Black, Walnut, and Maroon.
