Clarus Aqua MKII Single-Wire Speaker Cable

High-end speaker cable engineered for clarity, dynamics, and tonal balance.

The Clarus Aqua MKII Single-Wire Speaker Cable uses a sophisticated multi-conductor architecture designed to optimize signal transmission across the entire audible spectrum. Instead of relying on one conventional conductor geometry, Clarus combines three distinctly shaped Pure Continuous Cast Copper (PCCC) conductors, each optimized for bass, midrange, or high-frequency information.

The Aqua MKII also incorporates Clarus' flat parallel cable architecture, individually insulated conductors, and redesigned Spring Tension BFA banana plugs and spade lugs for a secure, low-loss connection between amplifier and loudspeaker.

The result is a premium audiophile speaker cable designed for exceptional transparency, imaging, dynamic expression, and tonal accuracy.

Three Conductor Geometries

The defining technology behind Aqua is Clarus' patented approach to conductor geometry.

Rather than assuming one wire shape is ideal across the entire frequency spectrum, Clarus uses three different PCCC conductor types within the cable.

A heavy-gauge round conductor provides a broad cross-sectional area optimized for low frequencies.

A wide, flat conductor is optimized for the midrange.

An ultra-thin ribbon conductor wrapped around a non-conductive core provides a low-mass signal path optimized for high frequencies.

These three geometries are mathematically balanced within the overall conductor design to provide consistent performance throughout the audible spectrum.

Pure Continuous Cast Copper

Aqua MKII uses Pure Continuous Cast Copper (PCCC) rather than conventional copper conductors.

The continuous-casting process produces extended lengths of highly pure, single-crystal copper with minimal crystal boundaries and low electrical resistance.

For an audio cable, the objective is straightforward: maintain signal integrity between the amplifier and loudspeaker with as little electrical interference as possible.

Individually Insulated Conductors

Each conductor within the Aqua MKII is independently insulated.

This construction helps minimize interaction between the different conductor elements while preserving the characteristics of the bass, midrange, and high-frequency geometries.

Clarus uses precision-formulated polyethylene insulation in the Aqua series for low loss and controlled dielectric behavior.

Flat Parallel Architecture

The physical arrangement of the cable is equally important.

Instead of twisting the positive and negative conductors together, Clarus positions them in a flat parallel configuration.

This geometry is designed to lower inductance and minimize phase-related distortion while maintaining consistent electrical characteristics along the length of the cable.

The large overall conductor gauge also lowers resistance, reducing the electrical load between the amplifier and loudspeaker.

Clarus MKII Spring Tension Connectors

Aqua MKII can be terminated with BFA-style banana plugs, spade lugs, or a combination of both.

Clarus manufactures its MKII connectors from military-grade beryllium copper, chosen for conductivity, mechanical strength, and its ability to maintain spring tension.

The BFA banana plug compresses when inserted into the binding post, creating 360-degree contact while its natural spring tension maintains pressure against the receptacle.

The MKII spade uses a machined center section that allows the terminal to flex as the binding post is tightened. The beryllium copper then maintains tension against the connection much like a lock washer.

Both designs are intended to provide a secure, low-resistance electrical interface over long-term use.

Aqua vs. Crimson

Aqua incorporates many of the same fundamental technologies used in Clarus' flagship Crimson series, including PCCC copper, multiple conductor geometries, individual insulation, and the company's flat speaker-cable architecture.

The primary distinction is conductor size. Aqua uses somewhat smaller gauges while retaining the core Clarus design philosophy, making it an excellent entry into the company's high-end cable architecture without moving to the flagship Crimson series.
