Burmester 111 Reference Musiccenter

Complimentary White Glove Delivery • Travel Reimbursement*

The Burmester 111 Musiccenter is the Reference Line digital centerpiece from Burmester, combining a high-end music server, CD player and ripper, network player, reference DAC and fully functional analog preamplifier in a single component. Designed and handcrafted in Berlin, the 111 is built to serve as the central source and control component of an uncompromising two-channel system.

Unlike a conventional streamer or music server, the 111 includes a complete Burmester preamplifier section with three balanced analog inputs and six digital inputs. The preamplifier circuitry is galvanically isolated from the server section, helping prevent interference generated by the computer and storage hardware from reaching the sensitive analog circuitry and D/A converter. Reference D/A Conversion

The 111 incorporates Burmester reference-level digital-to-analog conversion with selectable 96 kHz/24-bit or 192 kHz/24-bit upsampling. Incoming digital audio is processed through the reference converter section before reaching Burmester's sophisticated analog X-Amp2 output stages. Burmester

Three coaxial RCA and three optical TOSLINK digital inputs allow additional digital sources to use the 111's internal DAC. The coaxial inputs can accept high-resolution signals up to 192 kHz, while the optical inputs support signals up to 96 kHz. Burmester

Fully Balanced Reference Preamplifier

The 111 is also a genuine high-end analog preamplifier. Its preamplifier section uses Burmester's fully balanced circuit topology with a completely DC-coupled signal path, eliminating coupling capacitors from the audio path.

Three balanced XLR analog inputs connect external analog sources directly to the preamplifier section after D/A conversion, allowing their signals to remain in the analog domain apart from volume control. Burmester's X-Amp2 output stages handle both analog sources and signals from the reference DAC. Auditorium

This architecture allows the 111 to connect directly to a reference power amplifier without requiring a separate preamplifier.

High-End CD Ripping and Music Storage

The Burmester 111 can play CDs conventionally or rip them directly to its internal music library. Its high-end ripping system offers different reading modes, including a more intensive process for damaged or difficult discs.

Stored music uses a RAID 1 mirrored storage architecture, maintaining identical music data across two drives for increased data security. Burmester offered HDD and SSD storage configurations, while a separate SSD is used for system operation. Burmester

Album information and cover artwork can be retrieved automatically, while imported music and metadata can be managed through the Musiccenter interface.

Network Music Server

The 111 can operate as a complete network music server or as a standalone server with its DAC and preamplifier sections switched off. Its integrated UPnP server makes stored music available to compatible network players throughout the home. Hifisentralen

Network connectivity includes Ethernet and Wi-Fi. Music can also be transferred to the Musiccenter from a computer through its network file-sharing capabilities, providing a centralized library for downloaded and ripped music.

The 111 can be controlled from its front panel, remote control, Burmester software interface or web browser.

7-Inch Front Display

A high-resolution 7-inch front display provides direct access to playback and system information. The 111 was designed so its core playback, source-selection and preamplifier functions remain accessible directly from the component rather than requiring a computer for everyday operation. Burmester

Uninterruptible Power Supply

Burmester equips the 111 with an integrated uninterruptible power supply (UPS). The system protects the Musiccenter's computer and storage architecture against sudden power interruption, allowing controlled shutdown and helping protect stored music data. Burmester

One Reference Component at the Center of the System

The significance of the 111 is how much reference-level functionality Burmester integrates into one chassis. It can replace a separate music server, network player, CD transport, DAC and preamplifier while still providing connections for additional analog and digital sources.

Connect the 111 Musiccenter directly to a Burmester Reference power amplifier, and an exceptionally sophisticated system can be built with remarkably few components. For larger systems, its balanced analog and digital connectivity allows it to operate as the digital and control center around additional reference sources.

Burmester 111 Musiccenter at The Grid HiFi

The Grid HiFi in Houston specializes in reference two-channel audio and complete high-end system design. We can build a system around the Burmester 111 Musiccenter, matching it with the appropriate Burmester amplification, reference loudspeakers, network infrastructure, power conditioning and cabling.

With a component this sophisticated, configuration matters. The Grid can help determine whether the 111 should function as your complete preamplifier and digital front end or integrate into a larger reference system.
