The Burmester 077 Reference Preamplifier is a fully balanced, reference-class analog preamplifier handcrafted in Berlin for uncompromising two-channel audio systems. Developed from Burmester's Reference Line technology, the 077 combines a symmetrical signal path, sophisticated volume control, extensive configuration options and an external power supply designed to isolate sensitive audio circuitry from power-supply interference.

Its modular architecture allows the 077 to be configured around the system it will control, including an optional phono stage for high-performance vinyl playback. The result is a preamplifier designed to serve as the control center of a reference stereo system.

Fully Balanced Signal Architecture

The 077 operates with a fully balanced signal path designed to maintain signal integrity from input to output. Burmester uses discrete circuitry and carefully selected components throughout the audio stages, with short signal paths and extensive attention paid to channel symmetry, noise and interference.

A separate power supply keeps the transformer physically removed from the sensitive audio circuitry, reducing the potential for electromagnetic interaction inside the preamplifier chassis.

Precision Volume Control

Instead of a conventional potentiometer, the 077 uses Burmester's precision volume-control architecture. This approach is designed to provide accurate level adjustment, excellent channel matching and minimal influence on the audio signal.

The volume control is a critical part of the 077's design because virtually every source connected to the system passes through it before reaching the power amplifier.

Modular Input Configuration

The Burmester 077 is designed to accommodate sophisticated analog systems with multiple source components. Its modular construction provides extensive flexibility for balanced and unbalanced sources and allows the preamplifier to be configured for the requirements of a specific system.

An optional phono module provides direct integration of a high-end turntable, allowing the 077 to serve as both line-level preamplifier and reference analog control center.

Technical Details

Reference System Integration

The 077 is particularly suited to systems built around reference power amplification, high-resolution digital sources and premium analog front ends. Balanced XLR connectivity allows it to integrate naturally with Burmester power amplifiers, while its input flexibility accommodates DACs, streamers, CD players and other high-end sources.

For vinyl-focused systems, the optional MM/MC phono stage allows a reference turntable to connect directly to the 077 without adding another component to the signal chain.
