The Burmester 035 Preamplifier brings core Burmester Reference and Top Line engineering principles into the Classic Line. Built around Pure Class A X-Amp technology, the 035 uses balanced circuitry, a completely DC-coupled signal path, discrete selected components and a precision R-2R volume control to create a sophisticated analog control center for high-end two-channel systems.

Three balanced XLR inputs, two RCA inputs, Home Theater Thruput, balanced and unbalanced outputs and optional MM/MC phono capability give the 035 substantial system flexibility. BurLink connectivity provides integration with Burmester components and external control systems.

Hand assembled in Berlin, the 035 is designed for listeners who want Burmester's analog engineering in a focused preamplifier that can anchor a serious reference stereo system.

Pure Class A X-Amp Technology

The 035 uses Burmester's proprietary X-Amp amplifier technology operating in Pure Class A. Its analog circuitry is balanced from input to output and completely DC-coupled, eliminating coupling capacitors from the signal path.

Discrete components are carefully selected and matched for consistency between channels. Signal paths are kept short, particularly through the balanced XLR connections, to minimize unnecessary interaction with the audio signal.

Precision R-2R Volume Control

Volume is controlled through a passive R-2R resistor network with gold-plated reed relays rather than a conventional potentiometer.

The system provides 60 logarithmically calibrated volume steps with precise channel matching. Input selection is also relay controlled, with the switching elements positioned close to the inputs to keep signal paths short.

This approach gives Burmester precise control over one of the most critical stages of any preamplifier while minimizing additional circuitry in the audio path.

50VA Power Supply

The 035 incorporates a substantial internal power supply built around a 50VA transformer and 55,000 µF of filter capacitance.

The power supply provides the stable current required by the Class A analog circuitry while maintaining the low-noise electrical environment expected from a high-performance preamplifier.

Flexible Analog System Integration

The 035 provides three balanced XLR inputs and two unbalanced RCA inputs for source components. A balanced Home Theater Thruput allows the preamplifier to become part of a combined high-end stereo and home theater system without compromising the dedicated two-channel signal path.

Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs provide compatibility with a wide range of power amplifiers. Individual input levels can be adjusted to reduce large volume differences when changing sources, and the output level can be increased by 6 dB when required for amplifier matching.

Tone and balance circuitry can be completely bypassed, and the preferred power-on volume can be programmed.

Optional MM/MC Phono Stage

A modular expansion slot allows the Burmester 035 to be equipped for high-performance vinyl playback.

Optional MM and MC phono modules allow a compatible turntable to connect directly to the preamplifier while maintaining Burmester's balanced, DC-coupled circuit philosophy. A balanced CD input module is also available for compatible configurations.

BurLink Control

Burmester's BurLink interface provides RS-232 and USB connectivity for integration with external control systems.

The 035 also includes remote input and output connections and two 10V DC outputs for remotely switching compatible Burmester components, allowing the preamplifier to operate as the control center of a complete Burmester electronics system.
