Bryston Bi-200 Integrated Amplifier

The Bryston Bi-200 takes two of Bryston's most important components—the BP-19 analog preamplifier and 3B power amplifier—and combines them into one integrated amplifier.

That gives you a fully balanced discrete preamplifier, dual-mono power amplification, headphone output, six analog source inputs and 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms without requiring separate components or another pair of interconnects.

For someone who wants the performance and build quality of Bryston separates in a simpler system, the Bi-200 makes a lot of sense.

Three Versions Available

The Bryston Bi-200 is available from The Grid in three configurations:

• Bi-200 Standard
• Bi-200 with MM Phono
• Bi-200 with MM/MC Phono

The standard version is ideal for systems using digital sources or an external phono preamplifier.

Choose the MM Phono version if you're using a Moving Magnet or compatible high-output Moving Coil cartridge.

Choose the MM/MC Phono version when you want the Bi-200 to accommodate both Moving Magnet and Moving Coil cartridges.

This lets us configure the amplifier around the system you're actually building rather than making you pay for phono capability you don't need.

BP-19 + 3B in One Chassis

This is the easiest way to understand the Bi-200.

Bryston essentially combines the architecture of its BP-19 preamplifier with its 3B power amplifier.

The result is a true high-performance integrated amplifier rather than a stripped-down amplifier built simply to hit a lower price point.

You get the convenience of one chassis while eliminating the additional space, cabling and connections required by separate preamp and power amp components.

200 Watts Per Channel

The Bi-200's dual-mono amplifier section delivers:

• 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms
• 300 watts per channel into 4 ohms

That's real power for serious loudspeakers.

Rather than limiting the Bi-200 to small bookshelf speakers or highly efficient designs, Bryston gives it enough output to build a substantial full-range two-channel system around it.

Dual-Mono Amplifier Architecture

The Bi-200 uses a dual-mono amplifier design.

Keeping the two channels electrically independent helps improve channel separation and allows each side of the amplifier to respond to the demands of its respective loudspeaker.

It's the kind of architecture you'd expect from Bryston's separate power amplifiers, brought into an integrated platform.

Fully Balanced Discrete Signal Path

The Bi-200 uses a fully balanced discrete circuit path through the preamplifier section.

Bryston also uses an analog volume-control architecture that is digitally controlled.

That distinction is important.

The music isn't being converted into digital audio just so you can adjust the volume. The signal remains in the analog domain while digital control provides precise adjustment and repeatability.

Six Analog Sources

The Bi-200 can accommodate up to six analog sources, making it easy to build a complete two-channel system around one amplifier.

Depending on the system, those sources could include:

• DAC or network streamer
• CD player
• Turntable
• Tuner
• Tape deck
• Music server with analog output
• Other analog source components

Add the appropriate phono option and a turntable can become part of the system without requiring another chassis.

Optional MM or MM/MC Phono

For vinyl listeners, The Grid offers the Bi-200 in two phono-equipped configurations.

MM Phono

The MM Phono version adds a dedicated Moving Magnet phono stage.

This is the right choice for most conventional MM cartridges and compatible high-output Moving Coil designs.

MM/MC Phono

The MM/MC version expands the analog capability for systems using either Moving Magnet or Moving Coil cartridges.

If you're building a serious vinyl front end—or expect to move to a low-output MC cartridge later—the MM/MC configuration gives you more flexibility without adding an external phono preamplifier.

Independent Headphone Amplifier

The Bi-200 also includes an independent buffered headphone output.

That gives headphone listeners a dedicated output rather than simply tapping the speaker amplifier through a resistor network.

For a system where both loudspeaker and headphone listening matter, that's one less component you may need to add.

Channel Balance Control

Bryston includes channel balance adjustment, allowing the relative level between the left and right channels to be corrected when necessary.

It's a small feature until you need it—and one that's increasingly uncommon on minimalist high-end integrated amplifiers.

Standard, MM or MM/MC?

This decision is really about your turntable.

Choose Standard if you don't use vinyl or already own a dedicated phono preamplifier.

Choose MM Phono if you're using a Moving Magnet or compatible high-output Moving Coil cartridge and want to connect the turntable directly to the Bi-200.

Choose MM/MC Phono if you're using—or expect to use—a Moving Coil cartridge and want the greatest flexibility built directly into the amplifier.
