Overview
AVID HiFi Ingenium Plug&Play Turntable
Audiophile Belt-Drive Turntable • AVID TA-1 Tonearm • AVID-CA1 Cartridge • Sapphire Bearing • Record Clamp • Sorbothane Isolation • 33⅓ & 45 RPM
The AVID HiFi Ingenium Plug&Play is a precision-engineered belt-drive turntable that brings AVID's advanced vibration-control technology to a complete, ready-to-play vinyl system. Supplied with the AVID TA-1 tonearm and AVID-CA1 cartridge, the Ingenium combines a rigid aluminum chassis, inverted sapphire bearing, screw-down record clamp and isolated synchronous motor for accurate, low-noise record playback.
Designed and engineered in Britain, the Ingenium shares fundamental technologies with AVID's reference turntables while simplifying installation. Its preconfigured tonearm and cartridge allow setup in approximately ten minutes, making it an excellent choice for both first-time audiophiles and experienced vinyl enthusiasts.
Sapphire Bearing and Vibration Transfer Technology
At the heart of the Ingenium is AVID's inverted stainless-steel bearing, featuring a sapphire thrust surface rotating against a captive tungsten carbide ball.
The single-point bearing design minimizes lateral movement, mechanical noise and unwanted platter vibration. A tapered spindle and self-lubricating sleeve further improve rotational stability while reducing maintenance requirements.
AVID's approach focuses on controlling mechanical energy generated during playback rather than allowing it to remain within the record and platter assembly.
Precision Record Clamp
The supplied screw-down record clamp mechanically couples the vinyl record to the platter and bearing assembly.
Machined from aluminum and stainless steel, the clamp helps flatten record warps, improve contact with the platter mat and transfer unwanted vibrational energy into the chassis. This reduces resonance at the stylus and supports cleaner, more detailed playback.
Rigid Aluminum Chassis and Sorbothane Isolation
The Ingenium uses a solid aluminum cruciform chassis engineered to maintain a rigid mechanical relationship between the tonearm and platter.
Specially formulated Sorbothane isolation feet help protect the playback system from external vibrations, including acoustic feedback from nearby loudspeakers.
The result is a stable platform that allows the cartridge to retrieve musical information without unnecessary mechanical interference.
Belt-Drive Motor and Platter
A 12mNm AC synchronous motor drives the platter through a precision belt system, supporting both 33⅓ and 45 RPM playback.
The standard 2.5kg high-density fiberboard platter incorporates a cork-based compound mat for vibration management. An optional precision-machined aluminum platter provides an upgrade path for greater rotational inertia and speed stability.
AVID TA-1 Tonearm and AVID-CA1 Cartridge
The Ingenium Plug&Play includes a factory-fitted AVID TA-1 tonearm and AVID-CA1 phono cartridge, eliminating the need to purchase and configure these components separately.
The integrated package provides a straightforward introduction to high-fidelity vinyl playback while retaining the precision mechanical engineering expected from AVID HiFi.
