AudioQuest Robin Hood SILVER is the premium speaker cable in the Robin Hood family, designed for either full-range use or as the treble cable in an advanced bi-wire system. Its defining upgrade is the use of Solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) alongside Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors, combined with ZERO-Tech, Carbon-Based Linearized Noise Dissipation, 72V Dielectric-Bias System with Level-X RF Noise-Trap, and Folk Hero cold-welded terminations.

For highly resolving two-channel systems, Robin Hood SILVER brings AudioQuest’s flagship conductor material into the Folk Hero Series while retaining the current-transfer and noise-control technologies that distinguish the ZERO architecture.

Solid Perfect-Surface Silver + PSC+ Conductors

The major distinction between Robin Hood SILVER and Robin Hood ZERO is its conductor composition.

Robin Hood SILVER combines Solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) with Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+). AudioQuest uses solid conductors to eliminate electrical strand-to-strand interaction, while its Perfect-Surface manufacturing process is designed to minimize distortion associated with conductor surface irregularities and grain boundaries.

PSS is AudioQuest’s highest-grade conductor material. Its extremely high purity and exceptionally smooth surface further reduce the grain-boundary distortion present in metal conductors.

ZERO-Tech

Robin Hood SILVER incorporates AudioQuest’s ZERO-Tech architecture.

Conventional speaker cables have a fixed characteristic impedance that can interact with the amplifier and loudspeaker. ZERO-Tech is designed to eliminate this fixed characteristic impedance by minimizing interaction between the insulation and conductors.

AudioQuest's objective is uncompressed transient-current transfer while maintaining more consistent RF Noise Dissipation across a wide bandwidth.

Carbon-Based Linearized Noise-Dissipation System

Robin Hood SILVER uses AudioQuest’s Carbon-Based Linearized Noise-Dissipation System (NDS).

Multiple shields and a carbon-based resistive network are employed to convert much of the incoming RF energy into heat. Remaining unwanted energy is directed away from sensitive amplifier circuitry through direction-controlled signal and shield conductors.

AudioQuest describes the system as “linearized” because it is engineered to remain effective across an extremely wide bandwidth rather than targeting only selected frequencies.

72V Dielectric-Bias System with Level-X RF Noise-Trap

Robin Hood SILVER incorporates AudioQuest’s patented 72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS) with Level-X RF Noise-Trap.

Insulation surrounding a conductor acts as a dielectric and can store electrical energy. DBS maintains a continuous electrostatic bias across that dielectric, which AudioQuest says linearizes its behavior and improves the cable's ability to dissipate induced noise across a wide bandwidth.

The integrated Level-X RF Noise-Trap further pulls radio-frequency noise out of the cable, reducing its interaction with connected audio circuitry.

Direction-Controlled Conductors

AudioQuest controls the direction of the metal conductors used in Robin Hood SILVER as part of the cable’s overall Noise-Dissipation architecture.

The company says drawn metal has a non-symmetrical grain structure that creates measurable RF impedance differences depending on direction. AudioQuest orients the conductors so RF noise is directed away from the circuitry where it can cause the greatest distortion.

0.5% Silver-Plated Noise-Dissipation Components

Robin Hood SILVER also incorporates 0.5% silver plating over high-quality copper base metal in parts of its Noise-Dissipation system.

AudioQuest uses the silver plating specifically to improve RF Noise Dissipation rather than simply adding silver for cosmetic or marketing purposes.

Folk Hero Cold-Welded Terminations

Robin Hood SILVER uses AudioQuest’s Folk Hero cold-welded termination system.

The cable is cold-welded directly to extremely pure Red Copper spades or bananas, eliminating solder as an intermediate material. The bare copper connectors are then submerged in pure silver rather than being tumbled in a lower-grade plating solution.

AudioQuest also avoids metal in the speaker breakouts and plug casings to prevent those components from introducing additional RF noise into the conductors.

Full-Range: Robin Hood SILVER connects the amplifier directly to the loudspeaker as the system's complete speaker cable.

Bi-Wire: Robin Hood SILVER handles the treble section while a dedicated Robin Hood BASS cable feeds the bass/midrange section.

Robin Hood SILVER + Robin Hood BASS

For loudspeakers with separate high- and low-frequency binding posts, AudioQuest recommends:

The purpose of this architecture is to keep the large magnetic fields generated by bass energy away from the cable carrying delicate upper-frequency information. Robin Hood BASS also incorporates AudioQuest's patented RF/ND-Tech specifically for bass/midrange duty.

AudioQuest specifically cautions against bi-wiring with two ZERO cables in parallel, because the combination can create a very-high-frequency resonant peak. The intended AudioQuest configuration is ZERO/SILVER + BASS. For tri-wire loudspeakers, AudioQuest recommends BASS cables for both the midrange and bass inputs.
