AudioQuest Dragon BiWire COMBO is specifically engineered to maximize the performance of bi-wireable reference loudspeakers. A True ZERO + BASS Bi-Wire Architecture

Dragon ZERO for Treble

The Dragon ZERO section carries the loudspeaker's upper frequencies.

ZERO-Tech eliminates the cable's fixed characteristic impedance by eliminating interaction between the dielectric and conductors. AudioQuest says this enables uncompressed current transfer, unrestricted transient current, and more linear RF Noise Dissipation across the frequency spectrum.

Separating the treble signal also keeps the powerful magnetic fields generated by bass energy away from delicate high-frequency information.

Dragon BASS for Bass & Midrange

The dedicated Dragon BASS section feeds the loudspeaker's bass and midrange inputs.

AudioQuest designs its BASS cables specifically for frequencies 10kHz and below. They should not be used full-range or connected to a loudspeaker's treble input.

This specialized architecture allows the BASS section to address the very different current and noise-control requirements of low-frequency reproduction rather than asking one cable geometry to perform every task.

100% Solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS)

Dragon represents the pinnacle of AudioQuest's conductor technology with Solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS).

PSS is AudioQuest's highest-quality conductor metal. Extreme-purity silver is combined with the company's Perfect-Surface processing to minimize distortion associated with conductor grain boundaries and surface irregularities. ZERO-Tech

The result, according to AudioQuest, is uncompressed current transfer with unrestricted transient current, while RF Noise Dissipation remains consistent from octave to octave.

RF/ND-Tech — BASS Section

Dragon BASS adds AudioQuest's patented RF-on-ground Noise-Dissipation Technology (RF/ND-Tech).

Ground conductors can behave like antennas and collect radio-frequency energy. AudioQuest's RF/ND-Tech uses a common-mode phase-cancelling array to dramatically reduce this induced RF noise and the resulting signal masking.

Importantly, RF/ND-Tech is specific to the BASS section of Dragon COMBO. This is one reason AudioQuest doesn't recommend simply using two Dragon ZERO cables for bi-wiring.

Carbon-Based Linearized Noise-Dissipation System

Dragon uses AudioQuest's Carbon-Based Linearized Noise-Dissipation System (NDS).

Multiple shields and a carbon-based linearized resistive network convert much of the incoming RF energy into heat. Remaining unwanted energy is directed away from sensitive amplifier circuitry through direction-controlled signal and shield conductors.

AudioQuest describes the system as linearized because it is engineered to provide effective Noise Dissipation across an extremely wide bandwidth rather than targeting only selected frequencies.

72V Dielectric-Bias System with Level-X RF Noise-Trap

Dragon incorporates AudioQuest's 72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS) with Level-X RF Noise-Trap.

Cable insulation behaves as a dielectric and can store electrical energy. DBS maintains a continuous bias across that dielectric, which AudioQuest says linearizes its behavior and significantly improves wide-bandwidth Noise Dissipation.

The integrated Level-X RF Noise-Trap further pulls RF energy out of the cable, reducing its potential interaction with the connected audio circuitry.

Why Dragon Uses ZERO + BASS

AudioQuest's bi-wire architecture isn't simply about having four connectors at the speaker.

By separating the signal paths, the large magnetic fields associated with bass energy are kept out of the treble cable, allowing delicate high-frequency information to travel through a less magnetically disturbed environment.

AudioQuest specifically cautions against bi-wiring with two ZERO cables in parallel, because parallel ZERO cables can create a very-high-frequency resonant peak or ringing. AudioQuest specifies ZERO + BASS as the correct configuration.

For tri-wire loudspeakers, AudioQuest recommends ZERO for the treble input and BASS cables for both the midrange and bass inputs.

Mythical Creature Cold-Welded Terminations

Dragon uses AudioQuest's premium Mythical Creature cold-welded termination system.

The conductors are cold-welded directly to extremely pure Red Copper spades or bananas, avoiding solder as an intermediate material. The bare copper connectors are submerged in pure silver rather than tumbled in a lower-grade plating solution.

AudioQuest also uses nonmetallic speaker breakouts and plug casings to avoid introducing additional RF noise into the conductors.
