AudioQuest Dragon RCA Interconnect Cable

The AudioQuest Dragon RCA represents the pinnacle of AudioQuest’s analog interconnect lineup—the culmination of more than four decades of cable design and development. Dragon goes beyond simply using premium conductor materials. AudioQuest engineers virtually every aspect of the cable—from conductor geometry and dielectric behavior to RF-noise dissipation and connector construction—to minimize the mechanisms that can obscure musical information. Solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) Conductors

Dragon uses Solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS), AudioQuest’s highest-quality conductor metal. Solid conductors eliminate electrical and magnetic strand interaction, while the exceptionally smooth and pure PSS surface minimizes distortion caused by grain boundaries.

AudioQuest also uses PSS because of its contribution to linear RF Noise-Dissipation, making the conductor itself an integral part of Dragon's noise-management architecture.

Level 7 Noise-Dissipation

This is one of the technologies that separates Dragon from the already exceptional FireBird.

Dragon employs AudioQuest’s highest-level Level 7 Linear Noise-Dissipation, combining Solid PSS drain conductors, ZERO-Tech, 72V DBS, a Carbon/Graphene resistive Mesh-Network, and Direction-Controlled conductors.

Radio-frequency noise from cellular networks, Wi-Fi, satellites, and countless other sources surrounds every modern audio system. Rather than simply shielding against this energy, Dragon is engineered to dissipate it before it can mask delicate musical information.

Solid PSS RF Drain Conductors

Dragon takes RF-noise management even further by using Direction-Controlled Solid Perfect-Surface Silver drain conductors.

This is a significant distinction from FireBird and ThunderBird. The PSS drain conductors provide an exceptionally high-quality path for draining RF noise, allowing Dragon's Level 7 Noise-Dissipation architecture to operate at AudioQuest's highest level.

ZERO-Tech

Dragon incorporates AudioQuest’s advanced ZERO-Tech architecture.

Conventional cables have a characteristic impedance that can interact with the source and load electronics connected to them. ZERO-Tech eliminates the electrostatic field between the cable's high and low signal conductors, preventing the cable from having a characteristic impedance.

This enables more linear, wide-bandwidth RF Noise-Dissipation while preserving uncompressed transient response.

Carbon/Graphene Mesh-Network

Dragon incorporates alternating layers of graphene, carbon-loaded synthetic materials, and metal to effectively “shield the shield.”

Instead of allowing captured RF energy to reach the layer connected to the component's ground reference, the Carbon/Graphene Mesh-Network is designed to dissipate interference before it reaches that point. This helps maintain the exceptionally quiet electrical environment required to preserve subtle musical information.

72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS)

Dragon features AudioQuest’s 72V Dielectric-Bias System.

Cable insulation behaves as a dielectric and can act like a shunt filter. AudioQuest continuously biases and polarizes the insulation, minimizing dielectric noise and linearizing its behavior. This improves wide-bandwidth dissipation of induced RF noise while helping maintain a quiet background and clear dynamic expression.

The DBS system operates around the conductors rather than placing its batteries directly in the audio signal path.

FEP Air-Tube Insulation

Dragon surrounds its positive conductors with FEP Air-Tube insulation.

The Air-Tube construction creates almost no physical contact between the conductor and insulation. Because air absorbs extremely little energy and FEP offers excellent dielectric characteristics, this arrangement minimizes dielectric interference that could otherwise smear transient information or obscure dynamics.

AudioQuest intentionally treats the negative conductors differently, using a lossy insulation arrangement optimized for their different electrical function.

RF-Draining Connector Barrels

Dragon extends its RF-noise-management strategy all the way through its connectors. Grounded RF-draining barrels prevent the metal connector housing from capacitively coupling RF energy into the signal conductors.

This attention to connector construction ensures Dragon's noise-management architecture doesn't stop where the cable meets the component.

Hanging-Silver over Red Copper RCA Plugs

Dragon uses AudioQuest’s finest Hanging-Silver directly over extreme-purity Red Copper RCA plugs.

Rather than conventional tumbled silver plating, AudioQuest applies its premium Hanging-Silver directly over the high-purity Red Copper base material. This eliminates unnecessary intermediate materials and is designed to provide uncompromised signal transfer through one of the most critical points in the signal path.

Direction-Controlled Conductors

Every internal conductor in Dragon is Direction-Controlled as part of AudioQuest's comprehensive RF-noise-management strategy.

Conductor orientation is controlled during manufacturing to minimize RF noise and help direct induced high-frequency energy away from sensitive audio circuitry.
