AudioQuest BigFoot BASS Speaker Cable — Pair

A dedicated high-current bass and midrange cable engineered to complete AudioQuest’s latest Folk Hero bi-wire systems.

AudioQuest BigFoot BASS is purpose-built for the bass and midrange inputs of bi-wireable and tri-wireable loudspeakers. It is designed to partner specifically with AudioQuest Lone Ranger ZERO or Athena ZERO speaker cables, creating a specialized bi-wire system in which the demanding low-frequency signal travels separately from the more delicate treble signal.

BigFoot BASS combines Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors, ZERO-Tech, Level 10 RF/ND-Tech, 72V Dielectric-Bias System with RF Noise-Trap, Perfect-Surface Silver shield drains, and AudioQuest’s new Permanent Molecular Optimization treatment.

Made Specifically for Bass & Midrange

BigFoot BASS is not a full-range speaker cable.

AudioQuest engineers BigFoot BASS specifically for frequencies 10kHz and below. In a properly configured bi-wire system, the arrangement is:

Lone Ranger ZERO or Athena ZERO → Treble Input
BigFoot BASS → Bass / Midrange Input

Separating the bass and treble cable paths keeps the large currents associated with low-frequency reproduction from modulating the more delicate high-frequency signal. For tri-wire loudspeakers, AudioQuest recommends BASS cables for both the midrange and bass inputs.

Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ Conductors

BigFoot BASS uses Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+), AudioQuest’s highest-grade copper conductor material.

Solid conductors eliminate strand-to-strand interaction, while the extreme purity and smooth surface of PSC+ are designed to minimize distortion caused by grain boundaries. The conductors are also Direction-Controlled to improve RF Noise Dissipation.

ZERO-Tech

BigFoot BASS incorporates AudioQuest’s ZERO-Tech architecture.

Conventional speaker cables have a fixed characteristic impedance that can interact with the connected amplifier and loudspeaker. ZERO-Tech is designed to eliminate that fixed characteristic impedance by minimizing electrostatic interaction between the cable’s high- and low-signal conductors.

The result is uncompressed transient-current transfer and more linear RF Noise Dissipation—particularly important in the bass frequencies where loudspeakers can place substantial instantaneous current demands on an amplifier.

Level 10 RF/ND-Tech

BigFoot BASS features AudioQuest’s Level 10 RF-on-ground Noise-Dissipation Technology (RF/ND-Tech).

Its common-mode phase-cancelling architecture is designed to dramatically reduce distortion caused by induced radio-frequency noise and signal masking. Rather than addressing a narrow frequency band, AudioQuest designed RF/ND-Tech to provide linear Noise Dissipation across an exceptionally wide RF bandwidth.

72V Dielectric-Bias System with RF Noise-Trap

BigFoot BASS incorporates AudioQuest’s 72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS) with RF Noise-Trap.

Cable insulation acts as a dielectric and can store energy. By maintaining a continuous bias across the dielectric, DBS is designed to minimize dielectric noise and linearize its behavior, improving wide-bandwidth dissipation of induced RF noise.

The integrated RF Noise-Trap further assists in removing unwanted radio-frequency energy from the cable and connected system.

Perfect-Surface Silver Shield Drains

BigFoot BASS adds Solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) shield drains.

These highly conductive drain paths are used specifically to improve the cable’s ability to dissipate RF noise, complementing ZERO-Tech, RF/ND-Tech, and the DBS system.

Permanent Molecular Optimization

BigFoot BASS also introduces AudioQuest’s Permanent Molecular Optimization (PMO) treatment.

During manufacturing, AudioQuest applies a controlled high-frequency AC signal at levels far beyond those encountered during normal audio-system use. AudioQuest says this process permanently conditions the cable’s dielectric materials, significantly reducing transient intermodulation distortion and reducing the traditional cable break-in process.

Cold-Welded Red Copper Terminations

BigFoot BASS uses extremely pure Red Copper connectors that are cold-welded directly to the cable conductors.

Cold-welding avoids the use of solder and the additional materials and heat associated with a conventional soldered connection. The bare connector components are silver-plated, while the breakout and connector housings use nonmetallic materials to avoid introducing additional RF noise.

Custom terminations are also available. Because of the size and weight of cables at this level, AudioQuest recommends considering the physical binding-post design when selecting between banana and spade termination.

BigFoot BASS + ZERO-Tech

This is an important distinction for the product page because BigFoot BASS isn't intended to be purchased as a conventional standalone speaker cable.

For bi-wiring, AudioQuest designed BigFoot BASS to complement either Lone Ranger ZERO or Athena ZERO. The ZERO cable carries the treble signal while BigFoot BASS handles the bass/midrange section. AudioQuest also offers the cables in a convenient BiWire COMBO configuration where the BASS and ZERO cables are joined at the amplifier end.

AudioQuest specifically cautions against double-bi-wiring with two ZERO-Tech cables; the proper AudioQuest architecture is ZERO + BASS.
