100% Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ Conductors

Hurricane High Current uses solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+), AudioQuest's highest-grade copper conductor material.

AudioQuest's Perfect-Surface process is designed to create an exceptionally smooth, pure conductor surface. The extreme purity of PSC+ further minimizes distortion associated with grain boundaries within the metal.

Just as importantly, the conductors are solid. AudioQuest identifies strand-to-strand interaction in conventional stranded cables as a significant source of dynamic and transient intermodulation distortion.

For Hurricane, AudioQuest isn't mixing multiple grades of copper—the primary conductors are PSC+ throughout.

ZERO-Tech — Built for Uncompressed Transients

This is one of Hurricane High Current's most important technologies.

AudioQuest's ZERO-Tech eliminates the electrostatic field between the cable's high and low conductors, allowing linear RF Noise-Dissipation while supporting uncompressed transient-current transfer.

Hurricane High Current carries up to 20 amps RMS at 125VAC / 50–60Hz and can withstand transient peaks many times greater than its continuous RMS rating.

That's exactly the behavior required by large amplifiers and other variable-current components: they may not continuously draw enormous amounts of power, but they need access to it immediately when the program material demands it.

RF/ND-Tech — Wide-Bandwidth RF Noise Dissipation

Power delivery is only part of Hurricane's design.

AC ground conductors can act as antennas and collect radio-frequency noise. AudioQuest notes that this noise can bypass a component's power supply and couple directly into sensitive audio and video circuitry.

Its patented RF/ND-Tech uses a common-mode phase-cancelling array together with proprietary dielectric materials and differential linear filtering to reduce induced RF noise across a wide bandwidth.

The objective is straightforward: deliver unrestricted current while preventing the power cable from becoming an efficient pathway for RF noise.

Solid Perfect-Surface Silver RF-Drain Conductors

One of the defining technologies that separates Hurricane from lower Storm Series models is its use of Direction-Controlled solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) shield conductors.

These conductors are specifically used to drain RF noise from the line and neutral shields to ground through the third ground pin.

Rather than simply using silver-plated copper drains, Hurricane steps up to solid PSS for this critical part of its Noise-Dissipation system.

It's an important material upgrade and one of the strongest technical points to emphasize when positioning Hurricane against Tornado.

72V Dielectric-Bias System

Hurricane High Current incorporates AudioQuest's 72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS).

Cable insulation behaves as a dielectric and can act as a shunt filter. AudioQuest continuously biases and polarizes that insulation, which the company says minimizes dielectric noise and linearizes its filtering behavior, improving wide-bandwidth dissipation of induced RF noise.

The intended result is greater dynamic contrast and clarity against a quieter electrical background.

Direction-Controlled Conductors

All internal Hurricane conductors are Direction-Controlled.

Because drawn metal has a non-symmetrical grain structure, AudioQuest says its RF impedance varies according to direction. AudioQuest controls conductor orientation so induced noise is drained away from the areas where it could contribute to distortion.

The solid PSS shield conductors are also Direction-Controlled, making directionality part of Hurricane's complete RF Noise-Dissipation architecture rather than simply an installation convention.

C13 and High-Current C19 Options

For U.S. and Canadian systems, Hurricane High (Variable) Current is offered with:
