Overview

Aurender A200 Essential Analog Music Server, Streamer & DAC

The Aurender A200 is Aurender’s most compact and accessible analog-output music server, combining a high-resolution network streamer, AKM AK4490 DAC, variable RCA analog outputs, optional internal music storage and a dedicated isolated USB Audio output. It supports PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512 through both its internal DAC and USB digital output. Aurender Music

Designed as the entry point into Aurender’s analog-output series, the A200 can serve as a complete digital source connected directly to an integrated amplifier, preamplifier or—using its variable output—a compatible power amplifier.

AKM AK4490 DAC with MQA Full Decoding

The A200 uses an AKM AK4490 DAC in a single-stereo configuration. This differs from the dual-mono DAC architecture of the A15, A20 and A30, helping Aurender deliver its server and analog-output platform in a smaller, more attainable component.

The internal DAC supports 32-bit/768kHz PCM and native DSD512, with MQA Full Decoder functionality onboard. Aurender Music

Full Linear Power Supply

Despite its position in the range, the A200 retains a fully linear power supply with separate toroidal transformers assigned to critical sections:

  • 1 × 50W transformer — CPU
  • 1 × 25W transformer — DAC
  • 1 × 25W transformer — FPGA

The separation of server processing, conversion and digital circuitry is intended to keep power-supply noise away from the sensitive audio stages. Aurender Music

A built-in supercapacitor UPS provides controlled shutdown protection during an unexpected loss of AC power.

FPGA Precision Clocking

Digital timing uses a TCXO audio word clock with FPGA-based processing and a sub-100-femtosecond jitter-reducing clock generator.

Rather than treating the DAC as a separate module attached to a general-purpose computer platform, Aurender integrates the server hardware, playback software, clocking and conversion stages as a complete digital source. Aurender Music

Variable RCA Analog Output

The A200 provides single-ended RCA analog outputs with DAC-level variable volume control.

That allows the A200 to operate in two primary configurations: as a conventional source feeding an integrated amplifier or preamplifier, or directly into a compatible power amplifier with the A200 handling volume control. Aurender Music

The A200 does not provide balanced XLR analog outputs. Buyers requiring balanced output should move to the A15 or higher in Aurender's analog-output range.

Digital Inputs for Additional Sources

The A200 can function as the DAC for another digital component through:

1 × RCA coaxial S/PDIF input
1 × optical/Toslink input

Input selection can be controlled directly from the front panel between the A200's internal player, coaxial input and optical input. Aurender Music

This allows a CD transport, television or another compatible digital source to take advantage of the A200's internal DAC and analog output stage.

Dedicated Isolated USB Audio Output

The A200 isn't limited to its internal DAC. A dedicated USB Audio Class 2.0 output allows it to operate as a digital music server and transport feeding an external asynchronous USB DAC.

Aurender physically and electrically isolates this output from the CPU circuitry to reduce the transfer of computer-generated electrical noise. Aurender Music

USB output supports:

PCM: up to 32-bit/768kHz
Native DSD: up to DSD512
DoP: up to DSD256 Aurender Music

This also provides a useful upgrade path: the A200's internal DAC can be used initially, with a higher-end external DAC added later without replacing the Aurender music-server platform.

Up to 16TB of User-Installable Storage

Two rear-accessible 2.5-inch HDD/SSD bays allow the A200 to be configured around the owner's local music collection. No library drives are required—or included—if the system will primarily be used for streaming.

Aurender specifies support for up to two 8TB SSDs, providing as much as 16TB of internal storage. Aurender Music

A separate 240GB NVMe SSD is dedicated to the operating system and playback cache. Aurender's caching architecture moves music into solid-state memory for playback rather than continually accessing the primary library drive.

Double-Isolated Gigabit Ethernet

The A200 uses a double-isolated Gigabit Ethernet connection with two transformer stages designed to filter network-borne electrical noise without intentionally restricting data throughput. Aurender Music

Two additional rear USB 3.0 data ports support external music storage, file transfers and compatible control accessories. These are separate from the dedicated USB Audio output and should not be used as USB audio outputs. Aurender Music

Aurender Conductor & Streaming

Aurender Conductor integrates streaming services, local music libraries, playlists and system control within Aurender's own hardware/software ecosystem.

Aurender lists integrated access to TIDAL, Qobuz and Internet Radio, along with Spotify Connect and AirPlay. The A200 can also access music stored on its optional internal drives, external USB storage or NAS devices. Aurender Music

The A200 is also among Aurender's supported network-renderer models, expanding its ability to receive playback from compatible network-control platforms. Aurender

Critical Listening Mode

Critical Listening Mode disables the front-panel screen, buttons and nonessential background computing activity during playback, reducing unnecessary system processes while music is playing. Aurender Music

6.9-Inch IPS Color Display

The compact machined-aluminum chassis features a 6.9-inch 1280 × 480 wide IPS color LCD for album artwork, track information and playback status.

Physical front-panel controls provide power, volume, input selection, display selection and basic playback operation without requiring the control app for every function. Aurender Music

Where the A200 Fits in the Aurender Lineup

The A200 is the entry point into Aurender's analog-output music servers, but it retains much of the architecture that makes an Aurender different from a basic network streamer: local storage capability, solid-state caching, linear power, FPGA precision clocking, double-isolated Ethernet, dedicated isolated USB Audio and the Conductor ecosystem. Aurender Music

The step to the A15 brings dual-mono AKM AK4490 conversion and balanced XLR analog outputs. For a system that only requires RCA connectivity, the A200 offers a particularly clean way to combine the music server, streamer and DAC in one chassis.

Aurender A200 at The Grid HiFi

The Aurender A200 is a strong starting point for a high-end digital system that needs more than a conventional streamer. Use its internal AKM DAC and variable RCA outputs as the complete digital front end, or pair its dedicated isolated USB Audio output with an external DAC as the system evolves.

The Grid HiFi can configure the A200 with the appropriate SSD storage, amplification, network infrastructure, DAC and loudspeakers for a complete two-channel system.
