Aurender A15 Signature Analog Music Server, Streamer & DAC

The Aurender A15 Signature Analog Music Server combines a high-performance network streamer, dual-mono AKM AK4490 DAC, optional internal music storage and variable balanced XLR/RCA analog outputs in a single component. Supporting 32-bit/768kHz PCM and native DSD512, the A15 can operate as a complete digital source into a preamplifier, integrated amplifier or directly into a power amplifier. Aurender Music

Two user-installable 2.5-inch storage bays support up to 8TB per drive for as much as 16TB of local music storage, while a dedicated 240GB NVMe SSD handles the operating system and playback cache. For streaming-focused systems, the storage bays can simply remain empty. Aurender Music

Dual-Mono AKM AK4490 DAC

At the center of the A15 is a dual-mono AKM AK4490 DAC architecture, providing dedicated digital-to-analog conversion for the left and right channels.

The internal DAC supports:

• MQA Full Decoder

Full Linear Power Supply

The A15 uses a fully linear power supply with four toroidal transformers, separating critical digital and analog circuits.

Power is divided between a 50W transformer for the CPU, separate 25W transformers for the left and right DAC channels, and a 25W transformer for the FPGA circuitry. This architecture reduces interaction between the computer processing and sensitive audio stages. Aurender Music

A supercapacitor-based UPS provides controlled shutdown protection during an unexpected loss of AC power.

FPGA Precision Clocking

Aurender uses FPGA-based clock processing together with a sub-100-femtosecond precision jitter-reducing clock generator in the A15's DAC section. The published specification identifies the A15's audio word clock as TCXO-based. Aurender Music

This distinguishes the A15 from the higher-level A20, which moves to Aurender's OCXO clock architecture.

Variable Balanced XLR & RCA Analog Outputs

The A15 provides both:

Balanced XLR outputs — 4.0Vrms
Single-ended RCA outputs — 2.0Vrms

Its variable DAC-level volume control operates from -90dB to 0dB in 0.5dB increments and can be adjusted through the front-panel rotary control, Aurender Conductor or supplied remote. Aurender

This allows the A15 to function conventionally as a fixed-output source or serve as a streamlined digital preamplifier connected directly to a compatible power amplifier.

Digital Inputs for External Sources

The A15 can also serve as the DAC for additional digital components. Aurender's current product specifications list:

• 2 × RCA coaxial S/PDIF inputs
• 1 × optical/Toslink input

Digital sources connected to these inputs are routed through the A15's internal dual-mono DAC and analog outputs. Aurender Music

This is useful for integrating a CD transport, television or another digital source without adding a standalone DAC.

Dedicated Isolated USB Audio Output

For owners who later add an external DAC, the A15 retains Aurender's dedicated USB Audio output. This connection is physically and electrically isolated from the CPU board to reduce the transfer of electrical noise into a connected asynchronous USB DAC. Aurender Music

The dedicated USB Audio output is separate from the two rear USB 3.0 data ports.

Up to 16TB User-Installable Storage

Two rear-accessible 2.5-inch HDD/SSD bays allow local storage to be tailored to the owner's music collection. Aurender specifies support for up to two 8TB SSDs, providing a maximum published capacity of 16TB. Drives are not included. Aurender Music

A dedicated 240GB NVMe SSD is used for the operating system and playback cache. Aurender's caching architecture loads music into solid-state memory for playback rather than continuously reading from the library storage drive. Aurender Music

Double-Isolated Gigabit Ethernet

The A15 incorporates a double-isolated Gigabit Ethernet port using two transformer-isolation stages for network-noise filtration. A wired Ethernet connection is required for normal network operation and control. Aurender Music

Two rear USB 3.0 data ports support external music storage, file transfers and compatible external control devices.

Aurender Conductor & Integrated Streaming

The A15 operates through Aurender Conductor, integrating locally stored music and network streaming into a single playback interface.

Aurender lists integrated access to TIDAL, Qobuz and Internet Radio, plus Spotify Connect and AirPlay. NAS libraries and external USB storage are also supported. Aurender Music

Critical Listening Mode can disable the front-panel display, buttons and unnecessary background computing activity during playback.

6.9-Inch Color Display

A 6.9-inch wide IPS color display presents album artwork, artist information, track data and system status.

Aurender's product specification currently lists the panel as 1280 × 480, while its newer Quick Start Guide lists 1920 × 480. Because Aurender's own documentation conflicts, I would use 6.9-inch Wide IPS Color LCD in the Shopify specification rather than publish an uncertain resolution. Aurender Music

Where the A15 Fits in the Aurender Lineup

The A15 is the entry point into Aurender's higher-performance Signature analog-output music servers. It provides the important architecture needed for a serious one-box digital front end: dual-mono DACs, full linear power, FPGA clock processing, balanced outputs, variable volume control, dedicated USB Audio and configurable internal storage.

Moving to the A20 adds the more advanced dual AK4497 DAC architecture, OCXO clocking, larger 480GB NVMe cache drive and dedicated headphone section. The A15 therefore makes sense when the system needs high-quality analog output and balanced connectivity but doesn't require the A20's more elaborate DAC, clock and headphone architecture.
