Transrotor Fat Bob S TMD Turntable

Transrotor | Fat Bob S TMD

A Heavyweight Classic. Magnetic Precision as Standard.

Some turntables are designed to blend into a room. The Transrotor Fat Bob S TMD was designed to make an impression.

With its massive circular platter, hand-polished aluminum construction, and unmistakable industrial design, the Fat Bob has become one of Transrotor's signature creations. But its appeal extends well beyond its appearance.

A substantial 12 kg platter provides rotational inertia, while Transrotor Magnetic Drive (TMD) technology comes standard, creating a carefully engineered foundation for precise, stable analog playback.

It's a turntable that combines the presence of a statement piece with the flexibility to become the centerpiece of a serious vinyl system.

Twelve Kilograms of Rotational Stability

Transrotor | Fat Bob S TMD

The Fat Bob earns its name from its extraordinary platter.

Machined from aluminum and polished by hand, the platter measures 60 mm thick and weighs approximately 12 kg. A black acrylic surface completes the assembly.

That considerable mass provides rotational inertia, helping the platter maintain consistent movement as the stylus tracks the record groove.

The platter sits atop a substantial 40 mm hand-polished aluminum chassis, creating a mechanically robust foundation for high-performance vinyl playback.

TMD: Magnetic Drive Comes Standard

Transrotor | Fat Bob S TMD

The Fat Bob S TMD incorporates Transrotor Magnetic Drive technology as standard equipment.

The TMD bearing uses magnetic coupling to transfer rotational movement between the driven section and the platter. This arrangement is designed to reduce the direct transmission of unwanted mechanical energy from the drive system.

The bearing also incorporates hydrodynamic platter support, combining magnetic coupling with a carefully engineered bearing assembly.

Unlike certain other Transrotor models that offer TMD as an optional upgrade, the Fat Bob S TMD arrives with this technology already integrated into its design.

Hand-Polished Aluminum. An Unmistakable Design.

Transrotor | Fat Bob S TMD

The Fat Bob's appearance is defined by its substantial circular form and brilliant hand-polished aluminum finish.

Its 40 mm chassis and 60 mm platter give the turntable a sculptural quality, while the black platter surface provides a restrained contrast.

There are no unnecessary visual distractions. The materials, proportions, and mechanical components create the design.

With a total weight of approximately 25 kg, the Fat Bob has a commanding presence without requiring an oversized footprint.

Two Tonearms. Twice the Possibilities.

The Fat Bob S TMD can accommodate a second tonearm.

Optional mounting bases are available for both 9-inch and 12-inch tonearms, allowing owners to build a more versatile analog system.

A dual-tonearm configuration could pair a moving-coil cartridge for stereo recordings with a dedicated mono cartridge, or provide two different cartridge combinations for different listening preferences.

Whether you begin with a single arm or develop a dual-arm setup, the Fat Bob provides a substantial platform for your chosen components.

Build Your Analog System Around the Fat Bob

The Fat Bob S TMD is a configurable turntable, allowing you to select the tonearm, cartridge, and power supply that best suit your system.

Its separately positioned belt-drive motor helps limit the direct transmission of motor vibration to the turntable chassis.

The U.S. configuration supports a choice of compatible Transrotor Konstant power supplies, including the EINS, Studio, and M-1 Reference.

An optional dust cover, second tonearm base, and record auto-brush are also available.

The result is a turntable that can be configured for a straightforward high-performance vinyl system or a more elaborate analog installation.
