Overview
Mark Levinson Nº 5802 – Integrated Amplifier for Digital Sources
All Your Digital Music. One Exceptional Amplifier.
The Mark Levinson Nº 5802 is built for listeners who have embraced digital music but refuse to compromise on amplification.
Combining a high-performance digital preamplifier, Precision Link II DAC, and powerful Class AB stereo amplifier in a single chassis, the Nº 5802 simplifies a serious two-channel system without sacrificing the engineering that defines Mark Levinson.
With 125 watts per channel into 8 ohms, high-resolution USB playback, Bluetooth with aptX HD, and six digital inputs, it provides an elegant foundation for a music system built around a streamer, CD transport, computer, or other compatible digital sources.
Its fully discrete amplifier circuitry, substantial toroidal power supply, and precision-machined aluminum construction complete a component designed to deliver both performance and simplicity.

125 Watts of Serious Stereo Amplification
The Nº 5802 is more than a DAC with a power amplifier attached. Its amplification section draws directly from Mark Levinson's established high-performance designs.
Fully discrete, direct-coupled Class AB amplifier channels employ a voltage-gain topology derived from the Nº 534 power amplifier. Class A driver transistors feed a high-current output stage engineered to maintain stable operation across demanding loudspeaker loads.
The amplifier delivers 125 watts per channel into 8 ohms and nearly doubles that output into 4 ohms. Mark Levinson also specifies stable operation down to 2 ohms.
That combination of output power and load capability gives the Nº 5802 the flexibility to partner with a broad range of premium bookshelf and floorstanding loudspeakers.
A Power Supply Built for Musical Dynamics
An amplifier's power supply must respond when the music suddenly demands more current.
The Nº 5802 incorporates an oversized toroidal transformer rated above 500 VA, with individual secondary windings for the left and right channels.
Four 10,000-microfarad capacitors per channel are positioned directly on the output-stage circuit boards to provide local energy reserves.
Thermal-Trak devices help maintain stable amplifier bias as operating temperatures and speaker loads change.
Together, these elements support consistent amplification through everything from intimate acoustic recordings to demanding orchestral passages.
Precision Link II: Your Digital Music, Beautifully Converted
The Nº 5802 features Mark Levinson's Precision Link II digital-to-analog converter.
An ESS Sabre 32-bit DAC works with proprietary jitter-reduction circuitry and a fully balanced, discrete current-to-voltage conversion stage.
The asynchronous USB input supports compatible PCM files up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD files up to 11.2MHz.
Whether you're playing high-resolution music from a computer, connecting a dedicated network transport, or enjoying a favorite CD through an external digital transport, the Nº 5802 provides a sophisticated conversion platform for your sources.
Six Digital Inputs. One Complete System.
The Nº 5802 is designed specifically for digital audio sources. Its connections include:
-
One balanced AES/EBU digital input
-
Two coaxial S/PDIF inputs
-
Two optical TOSLINK inputs
-
One asynchronous USB-B input
This selection allows you to connect multiple compatible digital components without adding a separate DAC or preamplifier.
A CD transport, dedicated music streamer, computer, and television with a compatible optical output can all become part of the same system.
Important distinction: Unlike the Nº 5805, the Nº 5802 does not include analog line-level inputs or a phono stage. A conventional turntable cannot be connected directly unless an external phono stage and analog-to-digital conversion solution are used.
Bluetooth with aptX HD
Not every listening session requires a dedicated source component.
The Nº 5802 includes a Bluetooth receiver supporting aptX HD, allowing compatible phones, tablets, and other devices to send music wirelessly to the amplifier.
It's a convenient option for discovering new music, sharing a favorite track, or enjoying casual listening.
For a dedicated high-resolution system, connect a compatible streamer or computer through one of the amplifier's wired digital inputs.
The Ethernet port is provided for configuration and control; the Nº 5802 does not contain a standalone network music-streaming platform.
A Dedicated Class A Headphone Output
The Nº 5802 includes a front-panel ¼-inch headphone connection driven by a Class A analog stage.
This provides a convenient private-listening option without requiring an additional headphone amplifier.
Connect a compatible pair of high-performance headphones and enjoy your digital music collection directly through the Nº 5802.
Flexible System Integration
The Nº 5802 can serve as the foundation for a traditional two-speaker system or become part of a larger professionally installed setup.
Variable stereo RCA outputs allow connection to compatible external equipment, while Ethernet, RS-232, infrared, and programmable 12V triggers provide control-system integration.
An internal web interface supports configuration, importing and exporting settings, and software updates.
The included aluminum infrared remote provides convenient everyday control.
Signature Mark Levinson Design
The Nº 5802 carries the unmistakable appearance of the Mark Levinson 5000 Series.
Its one-inch-thick black-anodized aluminum front panel flows into a recessed glass display framed by clear-anodized aluminum.
Precision-machined hourglass-shaped control knobs, aluminum buttons, and carefully detailed ventilation complete the design.
With its substantial construction and understated black-and-silver finish, the Nº 5802 is designed to look at home alongside premium loudspeakers and reference digital sources.
Mark Levinson identifies the amplifier as designed and handcrafted in the United States.
