The Focal Alpha 80 Evo is a two-way active studio monitor designed for recording, mixing, mastering and professional music production. Featuring an 8-inch Slatefiber woofer manufactured in France, a 1-inch aluminum inverted-dome tweeter and 115 watts of bi-amplification, it delivers extended bass response, detailed midrange and the dynamic headroom required for critical listening.

With a frequency response of 38Hz to 22kHz and a maximum peak output of 106dB SPL, the Alpha 80 Evo is particularly well suited to producers and engineers who need substantial low-frequency performance from their main studio monitors. Balanced XLR and TRS connections, an RCA input and adjustable acoustic controls provide flexibility for professional recording studios and home production environments.

8-Inch Slatefiber Woofer

The Alpha 80 Evo features Focal's proprietary 8-inch Slatefiber woofer, engineered to reproduce bass and midrange frequencies with accuracy and low distortion.

Manufactured in France, the Slatefiber cone combines recycled carbon fibers with a thermoplastic polymer. Its non-woven carbon fibers are oriented in the same direction to balance rigidity, damping and low moving mass.

The larger woofer gives the Alpha 80 Evo greater low-frequency extension and output capability than smaller monitors in the Alpha Evo range. This makes it particularly useful when working with bass-heavy music, evaluating kick drums and bass instruments, or monitoring complex arrangements at higher listening levels.

Aluminum Inverted-Dome Tweeter

A 1-inch aluminum inverted-dome tweeter provides detailed high-frequency reproduction, helping engineers evaluate vocal presence, percussion, reverberation and subtle details within a recording.

Focal's inverted-dome design promotes wide horizontal dispersion, while an integrated waveguide helps maintain a stable stereo image across the listening area. This allows the Alpha 80 Evo to deliver consistent high-frequency information without requiring the listener to remain in an extremely narrow position.

The combination of the Slatefiber woofer and aluminum tweeter is designed to maintain tonal balance at both moderate and elevated monitoring levels.

115 Watts of Bi-Amplified Class D Power

The Alpha 80 Evo incorporates two dedicated Class D amplifiers, delivering 80 watts to the woofer and 35 watts to the tweeter.

By providing separate amplification for each driver, the monitor delivers the power and dynamic control required for professional nearfield monitoring without an external amplifier.

Its maximum output of 106dB SPL at one meter provides headroom for demanding recording and production sessions, while its extended bass response allows engineers to monitor a substantial portion of the audible spectrum without immediately requiring a separate subwoofer.

XLR, TRS and RCA Connectivity

Three analog inputs allow the Alpha 80 Evo to accommodate a variety of professional and consumer audio sources.

Balanced XLR and ¼-inch TRS inputs provide connections for compatible audio interfaces, mixing consoles and studio monitor controllers. An unbalanced RCA input offers additional flexibility for desktop DACs and other playback equipment.

Selectable input sensitivity of 0dB or +6dB allows the monitor to be matched to different source output levels, making it suitable for both established professional studios and compact home recording setups.

Acoustic Controls for Your Listening Environment

The Alpha 80 Evo includes adjustable low- and high-frequency shelving controls, allowing its tonal balance to be tailored to the room and speaker placement.

The low-frequency control provides ±6dB of adjustment below 250Hz, helping compensate for bass reinforcement caused by nearby walls, desks and other room boundaries. A separate high-frequency control offers ±3dB of adjustment above 4.5kHz.

These controls help engineers establish a more consistent monitoring balance when ideal speaker placement or extensive acoustic treatment is not possible.

Front-Ported Cabinet and Installation Flexibility

The Alpha 80 Evo features a substantial MDF enclosure with rounded contours, robust side panels and a large front-facing bass-reflex port.

The front-port configuration supports flexible placement in studios where monitors may need to sit near a wall or on a workstation. Integrated mounting inserts also accommodate compatible wall-mounting hardware for installations where conventional monitor stands are impractical.

An automatic standby function reduces power consumption after approximately 15 minutes without an audio signal and can be disabled when continuous operation is preferred.
