The AudioQuest Hurricane Constant-Current (Source) is optimized specifically for audio/video electronics with a relatively constant or fixed current draw. It combines solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors, solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) RF-drain conductors, ZERO-Tech, RF/ND-Tech, 72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS), and Direction-Controlled conductors.

This is the Hurricane to use on the front end of a serious system—where low-level information, resolution, and noise reduction are the priorities rather than feeding the rapidly changing current demands of a large power amplifier.

Optimized for Constant-Current Source Components

Hurricane Constant-Current (Source) is engineered for components whose current draw remains relatively stable during operation. AudioQuest specifically describes it as optimized for audio/video source components with a constant or “fixed” current draw.

Hurricane Source uses solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+), which AudioQuest identifies as its highest-grade copper.

AudioQuest's Perfect-Surface process is designed to produce an exceptionally smooth and pure conductor surface while the extreme purity of PSC+ further reduces distortion associated with grain boundaries within the copper.

The conductors are also solid rather than conventionally stranded. AudioQuest specifically identifies strand interaction as a significant source of dynamic distortion and transient intermodulation distortion in cables.

At this level of the Storm Series, the goal isn't simply moving AC from the wall to the component. Every part of the conductor architecture is designed to minimize the mechanisms AudioQuest identifies as contributing to distortion and noise.

Perfect-Surface Silver RF-Drain Conductors

This is one of the most important upgrades as you move from Tornado Source to Hurricane Source.

Hurricane uses Direction-Controlled solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) shield conductors to drain RF noise from the line and neutral shields to ground through the third ground pin.

Instead of simply increasing the percentage of silver plating, Hurricane steps up to solid PSS drain conductors.

AudioQuest positions PSS as its highest-quality conductor metal, and here it is strategically deployed in the Noise-Dissipation system where its exceptional conductivity at high frequencies can be particularly useful.

ZERO-Tech — Uncompressed Current Transfer

AudioQuest's ZERO-Tech addresses something often overlooked in AC cable design: characteristic impedance.

A power cable can have low DC resistance and still restrict transient-current delivery. ZERO-Tech is designed to eliminate characteristic impedance while also enabling linear RF Noise-Dissipation.

AudioQuest's objective is to allow the connected component's power supply to draw the current it needs without the transient compression associated with conventional cable geometries.

Even though Hurricane Source is optimized for fixed-current components, the power supplies inside high-performance DACs, preamplifiers, streamers, and source electronics still respond dynamically to the demands placed upon them.

RF/ND-Tech — Wide-Bandwidth RF Noise Dissipation

Today's listening room is surrounded by radio-frequency energy—from Wi-Fi, cellular networks, Bluetooth, computers, networking equipment, switching power supplies, smart-home devices, and countless other sources.

AC ground wires can behave like antennas and collect that RF energy. AudioQuest notes that this noise can bypass a component's power supply and couple directly into sensitive audio/video circuitry.

Hurricane's patented RF/ND-Tech uses a common-mode phase-cancelling array, proprietary dielectric materials, and differential linear filtering to reduce induced RF noise across a wide bandwidth.

72V Dielectric-Bias System

Cable insulation is also a dielectric and can behave like a shunt filter. AudioQuest continuously biases the insulation to minimize dielectric noise and linearize its behavior, improving wide-bandwidth dissipation of induced RF noise.

AudioQuest describes the intended result as clearer, more dynamic reproduction against a quieter background.

Direction-Controlled Conductors

Every internal conductor in Hurricane Source is Direction-Controlled.

Drawn metal has a non-symmetrical grain structure, which creates direction-dependent RF impedance. AudioQuest controls conductor orientation so induced RF noise is directed away from the areas where it could contribute to distortion.

The solid PSS shield conductors are also direction-controlled as part of Hurricane's overall RF Noise-Dissipation architecture.

C13 and High-Current C19 Options

For U.S. and Canadian systems, Hurricane Constant-Current is offered with:
