AudioQuest Rocket 88 Single-BiWire Speaker Cable — Pair

The flagship Rocket cable, configured specifically for high-performance bi-wire loudspeakers.

AudioQuest Rocket 88 Single-BiWire sits at the top of the Rocket Series, combining 100% Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors, Double Star-Quad Geometry, Carbon-Based Noise Dissipation, Foamed-Polyethylene insulation, and AudioQuest’s patented 72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS).

The Single-BiWire configuration provides one clean cable run per speaker while independently connecting the high- and low-frequency sections of a bi-wire-capable loudspeaker.

Designed for Bi-Wire Loudspeakers

Rocket 88 Single-BiWire uses:

Amplifier End: 2 connections
Speaker End: 4 connections

This allows a single amplifier channel to feed the separate high- and low-frequency inputs of a compatible loudspeaker without relying on the speaker’s factory jumper plates.

For a serious two-channel system with bi-wire-capable speakers, Rocket 88 provides an elegant way to take advantage of the speaker’s dual binding posts without running two completely separate speaker cable pairs.

100% Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+)

Rocket 88 uses Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors throughout.

PSC+ is AudioQuest’s highest-quality copper conductor material. Its extremely pure composition and exceptionally smooth surface are designed to reduce distortion caused by grain boundaries and surface irregularities found in lesser conductor materials.

Rocket 88’s solid conductors also eliminate electrical strand-to-strand interaction, a significant source of distortion in conventional stranded cable designs.

72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS)

One of the technologies that separates Rocket 88 from the lower Rocket models is AudioQuest’s patented 72V Dielectric-Bias System.

Insulation surrounding a conductor can absorb energy and release some of it later as distortion. DBS maintains a continuous electrostatic field across the cable’s insulation, which AudioQuest says minimizes dielectric noise while improving the dissipation of induced radio-frequency noise.

The DBS battery pack is not part of the audio signal path.

Double Star-Quad Geometry

Rocket 88 employs AudioQuest’s Double Star-Quad Geometry.

The relationship between conductors determines fundamental electrical characteristics such as capacitance and inductance. AudioQuest developed its Double Star-Quad arrangement to reduce distortion compared with conventional parallel conductors and more common twisted-pair geometries.

Carbon-Based Noise Dissipation

Rocket 88 incorporates a Carbon-Based Noise-Dissipation System to reduce the effects of radio-frequency interference.

Its negative conductors are covered with partially conductive Carbon-Loaded Polyethylene, which helps prevent RF noise from being fed back into the amplifier. Reducing external interference is designed to produce greater clarity and dimensionality.

Foamed-Polyethylene Insulation

Most conventional insulation materials absorb some energy and release it later, introducing additional distortion.

Rocket 88 uses Foamed-Polyethylene insulation with a high air content. Because air absorbs very little energy and polyethylene has a relatively benign distortion profile, AudioQuest uses this construction to reduce the out-of-focus effects associated with conventional dielectric materials.

Direction-Controlled Conductors

Rocket 88’s conductors are carefully controlled for direction as part of AudioQuest’s broader approach to RF Noise Dissipation.

Combined with the cable’s Carbon-Based Noise Dissipation and 72V DBS technologies, this is designed to reduce induced radio-frequency noise before it can compromise the audio signal.

SureGrip 500 Connectors

Rocket 88 Single-BiWire is professionally terminated with AudioQuest SureGrip 500 connectors.

Available configurations include:

  • 2 Bananas → 4 Bananas — Gold
  • 2 Bananas → 4 Bananas — Silver
  • 2 Multi-Spades → 4 Multi-Spades — Gold
  • 2 Multi-Spades → 4 Multi-Spades — Silver

AudioQuest notes that connector selection should take the actual amplifier and speaker binding posts into consideration. Certain isolated amplifier binding posts can favor banana connectors, while other designs may provide a better mechanical connection with spades.

Available Lengths

At The Grid HiFi, Rocket 88 Single-BiWire is sold exclusively as a stereo pair in:

Rocket 88 vs. Rocket 44 Single-BiWire

Rocket 44 is already a serious cable, but Rocket 88 takes two significant steps further.

Rocket 44 combines PSC+ and PSC conductors, while Rocket 88 uses PSC+ throughout. Rocket 88 also adds AudioQuest’s patented 72V Dielectric-Bias System, bringing technology used in many of AudioQuest’s higher-end cables into the flagship Rocket model.

Both use solid conductors, Double Star-Quad Geometry, Carbon-Based Noise Dissipation, Foamed-Polyethylene insulation, and SureGrip 500 connectors, but Rocket 88 represents the highest-performance Single-BiWire option in the Rocket family.

Why Buy AudioQuest Rocket 88 Single-BiWire from The Grid HiFi?

A speaker cable at this level should be configured around the entire system. Amplifier binding posts, loudspeaker terminals, cable length, and termination type should all be considered before ordering.

The Grid HiFi can help configure your Rocket 88 Single-BiWire pair specifically for your amplifier and loudspeakers, including selecting the correct length and Banana or Multi-Spade terminations.
