AudioQuest Rocket 88 Single-BiAmp is the highest-performance bi-amp configuration in the Rocket Series. Designed for systems using separate amplifier channels to drive the high- and low-frequency sections of each loudspeaker, it combines 100% Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors, Double Star-Quad Geometry, Carbon-Based Noise Dissipation, Foamed-Polyethylene insulation, and AudioQuest’s patented 72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS).

Designed for Bi-Amp Systems

Rocket 88 Single-BiAmp is specifically configured for systems where separate amplifier channels feed the high- and low-frequency inputs of compatible loudspeakers.

Each cable provides:

Amplifier End: 4 connections
Speaker End: 4 connections

This provides independent amplifier feeds to the HF and LF sections of each loudspeaker without requiring two completely separate speaker cable runs.

100% Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+)

Rocket 88 uses Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors throughout.

PSC+ is AudioQuest’s highest-grade copper conductor material. Its exceptionally smooth surface and high purity are designed to minimize distortion associated with grain boundaries and surface irregularities.

The use of solid conductors also eliminates electrical strand-to-strand interaction, one of the distortion mechanisms AudioQuest specifically seeks to avoid in conventional stranded speaker cables.

72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS)

A defining technology of Rocket 88 is AudioQuest’s patented 72V Dielectric-Bias System.

Cable insulation can absorb energy and later release some of that energy as distortion. AudioQuest’s DBS maintains a continuous electrostatic field across the cable’s insulation, minimizing dielectric noise while improving wide-bandwidth dissipation of induced radio-frequency noise.

The DBS system operates independently of the music signal and does not place the battery in the audio signal path.

Double Star-Quad Geometry

Rocket 88 employs AudioQuest’s Double Star-Quad Geometry.

The physical relationship between conductors determines fundamental electrical characteristics including capacitance and inductance. AudioQuest designed its Double Star-Quad arrangement to reduce distortion compared with conventional parallel conductors and common twisted-pair geometries.

Carbon-Based Noise Dissipation

Rocket 88 incorporates a Carbon-Based Noise-Dissipation System designed to reduce radio-frequency interference.

The cable’s negative conductors are covered with partially conductive Carbon-Loaded Polyethylene, helping prevent RF noise from being fed back into the amplifier. Reducing this external interference is designed to provide greater clarity and dimensionality.

Foamed-Polyethylene Insulation

Common insulation materials can absorb energy and release some of it later as distortion.

Rocket 88 uses Foamed-Polyethylene insulation with a high percentage of air. AudioQuest selected this material because of its low energy absorption and benign distortion characteristics, helping reduce the out-of-focus effect associated with conventional dielectric materials.

Direction-Controlled Conductors

Rocket 88’s conductors are carefully Direction-Controlled as part of AudioQuest’s overall approach to RF Noise Dissipation.

Combined with Carbon-Based Noise Dissipation and 72V DBS, conductor directionality is used to help minimize induced RF noise and its effect on sensitive audio circuitry.

SureGrip 500 Connectors

Rocket 88 Single-BiAmp is professionally terminated with AudioQuest SureGrip 500 connectors.

Available configurations are:

AudioQuest notes that connector selection should account for the actual binding-post design of the amplifier and loudspeaker. Certain isolated amplifier binding posts may favor banana connectors, while other designs can provide a better mechanical connection with spades.
