The AudioQuest PowerQuest 3 is an 8-outlet power conditioner and non-sacrificial surge protector designed to improve power delivery and protection for complete audio/video systems. With dedicated outlets for high-current amplification, source components, and 4K/8K video equipment, the PQ3 provides considerably more system flexibility than a conventional surge protector while maintaining a slim, installation-friendly design.

At $459.95, the PowerQuest 3 sits above the six-outlet PowerQuest 2 and below AudioQuest's component-style PowerQuest 303.

8 Outlets Optimized for Your System

One of the PowerQuest 3's biggest advantages is that its eight outlets aren't all treated the same.

The two High-Current outlets are designed for components with variable current demands, including integrated amplifiers, A/V receivers, powered speakers and subwoofers.

Four additional Linear-Filtered outlets are intended for source electronics, while two dedicated video-optimized outlets add additional noise-dissipation technology for 4K/8K displays and other video equipment.

That makes the PQ3 particularly well suited to a complete home entertainment system where a TV, receiver, streamer, subwoofer, game console and other source components all need clean, protected AC power from a single unit.

Linear Noise Dissipation

PowerQuest 3 goes beyond basic surge protection by addressing high-frequency noise present on the AC line.

AudioQuest specifies greater than 22dB Differential-Mode Noise Dissipation from 30kHz to 1GHz and greater than 22dB Common-Mode Noise Dissipation from 30kHz to 100MHz. The filters are linearized to maintain effective noise reduction as line and load impedance change.

Non-Sacrificial Surge Protection

Unlike conventional surge suppressors that can degrade after absorbing significant surge events, the PowerQuest 3 uses AudioQuest's Non-Sacrificial Surge Protection.

AudioQuest specifies the PQ3 to withstand repeated 6000V/3000A input surge tests without damaging its protection circuitry.

Extreme Voltage Shutdown

Protection extends beyond short-duration surges. If incoming AC reaches 140VAC, the PowerQuest 3 opens its main power relay in less than 0.25 seconds, disconnecting connected equipment.

When incoming voltage returns to a safe range, the PQ3 automatically resets and restores power.

4 USB Charging Ports + Signal-Line Protection

The PowerQuest 3 also provides four high-speed USB ports with up to 4.8 amps total charging capacity.

Network, telephone and coaxial connections can also be routed through the PQ3 for additional signal-line surge protection—an important consideration because damaging electrical events don't necessarily enter an A/V system through the AC outlets alone.

Flexible Installation

The PQ3's slim profile allows it to fit behind entertainment cabinets and furniture. A removable floor stand supports vertical installation, while removing the base allows the PowerQuest 3 to be positioned horizontally on a shelf.

AudioQuest also includes a 2-meter / 6.6-foot directionally optimized concentric-geometry power cable.

The PQ3 is more than a PowerQuest 2 with two extra outlets.
