AudioQuest Blizzard XTRM — AC Power Cable

Blizzard performance with AudioQuest’s premium XTRM termination system. The AudioQuest Blizzard XTRM combines 100% Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+), True-Concentric conductors, ZERO-Tech, RF/ND-Tech, 72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS), Direction-Controlled Conductors, and upgraded cold-welded Hanging-Silver XTRM plugs.

Designed for both constant- and variable-current components, Blizzard XTRM is equally at home on high-end source electronics, integrated amplifiers, power amplifiers, and power-conditioning products.

100% Perfect-Surface Copper+

Blizzard XTRM uses 100% Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+), AudioQuest’s highest-grade copper conductor material.

AudioQuest engineers PSC+ for an exceptionally smooth, pure conductor surface, minimizing distortion associated with grain boundaries and surface discontinuities. Combined with Blizzard XTRM's conductor geometry, AudioQuest specifically targets Transient Intermodulation (TIM) distortion.

This is an important distinction from Monsoon XTRM, which combines PSC+ with Long-Grain Copper. Blizzard XTRM moves to PSC+ throughout the conductor.

True-Concentric Conductor Geometry

Blizzard XTRM uses AudioQuest's more advanced True-Concentric conductor geometry.

Each successive layer of strands is spiraled in the opposite direction from the layer beneath it. This creates more controlled points of contact between strands and further reduces the strand-interaction distortion associated with conventional stranded cables.

The combination of True-Concentric construction and 100% PSC+ is a major part of what separates Blizzard from AudioQuest's lower-level power cables.

ZERO-Tech — Uncompressed Current Transfer

AudioQuest's ZERO-Tech addresses an important factor beyond simple DC resistance: characteristic impedance.

ZERO-Tech eliminates the electrostatic field between the cable's high and low conductors, allowing linear RF Noise-Dissipation while providing zero characteristic impedance. AudioQuest's objective is unrestricted transient-current delivery without the compression conventional AC cables can introduce.

That makes Blizzard XTRM suitable not only for source components but also for equipment whose current requirements can change dramatically with the music.

RF/ND-Tech — Wide-Bandwidth Noise Dissipation

AC ground conductors can act as antennas, collecting radio-frequency noise that may bypass a component's power supply and couple directly into sensitive audio/video circuitry.

AudioQuest's patented RF/ND-Tech addresses this with a common-mode phase-cancelling array, proprietary dielectric materials, and differential linear filtering.

The goal is exceptionally wide-bandwidth RF Noise-Dissipation while maintaining unrestricted current delivery.

72V Dielectric-Bias System

Blizzard XTRM incorporates AudioQuest's patented 72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS).

DBS continuously saturates and polarizes the cable's insulation. AudioQuest says biasing the dielectric minimizes dielectric noise and improves the linearity of the cable's RF filtering, contributing to cleaner, more dynamic reproduction against a quieter background.

XTRM Plugs — A Critical Upgrade

The defining difference between Blizzard and Blizzard XTRM is at the connection itself.

Blizzard XTRM receives AudioQuest's upgraded XTRM AC plugs with cold-welded Hanging-Silver over Red Copper and Beryllium Copper contacts. AudioQuest describes these as its best AC plugs, designed to provide lower distortion and improved high-frequency Noise-Dissipation compared with the molded connectors used on standard models.

Cold welding also avoids introducing solder as an additional material between the conductor and connector.

Direction-Controlled Conductors

All internal conductors are Direction-Controlled.

AudioQuest controls the RF impedance variation created by the directional grain structure of drawn metal so induced noise is drained away from the connected electronics. This is a fundamental element of AudioQuest's overall Noise-Dissipation architecture.

Blizzard XTRM vs. Blizzard

The major upgrade is the XTRM termination system. Blizzard XTRM replaces the standard model's molded plugs with AudioQuest's premium cold-welded Hanging-Silver over Red and Beryllium Copper connectors.
