Tornado High Current combines solid Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC) and Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors, ZERO-Tech, RF/ND-Tech, 72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS), 6% silver-plated drains, and Direction-Controlled Conductors with current capacity up to 20 amps RMS at 125VAC.

Solid PSC and PSC+ Conductors

Tornado High Current uses a carefully selected combination of solid Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC) and extreme-purity Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+).

Solid conductors eliminate the strand-to-strand interaction found in conventional stranded cables, which AudioQuest identifies as a significant source of dynamic and transient intermodulation distortion. PSC and PSC+ further improve the conductive path through exceptionally smooth, high-purity copper surfaces.

PSC+ is AudioQuest's highest-grade copper and is used where its greater purity can further minimize distortion associated with grain boundaries within the metal.

ZERO-Tech — Uncompressed Current Delivery

For a large amplifier, simply having a low-resistance cable isn't enough.

AudioQuest's ZERO-Tech is engineered to eliminate the electrostatic field between the cable's high and low conductors. This enables linear RF Noise-Dissipation while eliminating characteristic impedance that could otherwise restrict transient-current delivery.

Tornado High Current is rated for 20 amps RMS at 125VAC and is designed to withstand transient-current peaks many times greater than its continuous rating.

RF/ND-Tech — Wide-Bandwidth RF Noise Dissipation

Current delivery is only half of the equation.

AC ground conductors can behave like antennas, collecting radio-frequency noise that may bypass a component's power supply and couple directly into sensitive audio and video circuitry.

AudioQuest's patented RF/ND-Tech uses a common-mode phase-cancelling array together with proprietary dielectric materials and differential linear filtering to reduce induced RF noise across an extremely wide bandwidth.

The objective is high-current delivery without bringing unnecessary RF contamination along with it.

72V Dielectric-Bias System

Tornado High Current incorporates AudioQuest's 72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS).

Cable insulation acts as a dielectric and can store and release energy. DBS continuously biases and polarizes that insulation, which AudioQuest says reduces dielectric noise and improves the linearity of wide-bandwidth RF Noise-Dissipation.

The result is a cable engineered around both dynamic current delivery and a lower-noise electrical environment.

6% Silver-Plated RF Drain Conductors

Tornado uses 6% silver plating over high-quality copper drain conductors as part of its Noise-Dissipation system.

AudioQuest applies the silver specifically where its conductivity can improve RF-noise drainage rather than simply using expensive conductor materials indiscriminately throughout the cable.

Direction-Controlled Conductors

Every internal conductor in Tornado is Direction-Controlled.

AudioQuest controls the RF impedance variation inherent in drawn metal so induced noise is directed away from the connected electronics. Where applicable, arrows on the connectors indicate the intended orientation.

C13 and High-Current C19 Options

For U.S. and Canadian systems, Tornado High (Variable) Current is available in two configurations:

C13 → 3-Prong Wall Plug — for components using a conventional IEC-C13 inlet.

C19 → 3-Prong Wall Plug — for compatible high-current components using the larger IEC-C19 connection.
